What do you prefer more painting lighter skinned people or darker skinned people?

There are more colors to see in a lighter skinned people. With a people who have darker skin all you have to do is reach for the burnt siena and add some white and you have the skin color.

Ouch!

To say something like just use your burnt sienna and white to mix skin really shows that you do not understand color, not as a painter.

It is just as ridiculous as buying the tube of paint called 'flesh' in your art supply store.

Whose flesh is that for?

Look at yourself and the next person you come in contact with.

Do you have the exact same flesh color?

The tube of paint called flesh is perhaps a wonderful color, but to rely on it to paint skin color is not a good thing to do.

It is the same as if you just used burnt sienna and white to paint your skin colors. The person would look like they had an awful sunburn.

Besides, skin color varies on one person depending on what part of that person you are painting.

Just by looking at a hand... you will be able to see color of the knuckles are different that the color of the palm of the hand.

The colors of the fingertips are also different.

And what if this person is in a well lit room? Their skin color will be much different than if they were in a dimly lit room, or outside.

All these factors influence the color.

To make it into a formula like just use burnt sienna and white and you can paint darker skinned people will never get you the results that you want.

What you need is a step by step procedure to know how to mix the color you see.It is about learning how the oil painter uses color and sees color.

Color has certain rules and by learning these rules (which is not complicated when you receive truly good instruction) you cannot fail.

This is because you take away the guesswork.

If your color is not right you know exactly what to look for to make the proper correction.

Please, really learn all about color and if you are painting the skin of darker colored people don't just use burnt sienna and white.

If you're interested to learn about oil paint..I'll surely include that in the following..Give comments in what kind of information you want to know. Hopefully, I'll try to answer.
