Yup, the film farce awards are back! So let?s take a little time off our busy schedule to take a look at the? winners? and losers this year around .
Best Film: Met someone a.k.a Koi Mil Gaya
Actually it should have been ET ka DVD mil gaya! I mean what is so great about this film, tell me? Ok Roshan Jr. did act well but so what? You are suppose to honor a film and not an actor in this category. Agreed that the subject of the film is new as far as Hindi cinema is concerned. Agreed that Hritick is not shown in his usual I? am? a? Hulk way. But let?s face it, the film is very predictable and the influence of ET is there for all to see .
My Take? None!
Best Director: Rakesh? Fantasy? Roshan
He must have given a few big hits in his career but is definitely not the best director in town! How can one honor a person who has lifted the theme and a few scenes from a Hollywood classic? There is absolutely nothing original about this film . The screenplay and the characterizations are so poor.
My Take? Prakesh Jha( Gangajaal) or Tigmanshu Dhulia( Haasil)
Best Actor:Hritick? Forrest Gump? Roshan
Ok, maybe he deserved it . Actually all the nominees were good.
Best Actress: Preity? Perky? ZintaWell, what about Urmila in Bhoot? Surely a performance worth watching. *Actually in true Filmfare style they compensated Urmila by giving her the Critics Award .
My Take? Urmila( Bhoot)
Best Supporting Actor: Saif? Suave? khanUmn! Ok. But I thought Arshad warsi was cool in Munnabhai MBBS.
Best Supporting Actress: Jaya BachchanNo comments!
Best Comic Actor: Sanjay? am confused? DuttWhy? I am confused. Please Read on. My Take? Boman Irani( Munnabhai) or Rajpal Yadav( Mein Madhri Dixit?)
Best Villain: Irfaan KhanAt Last this deserving actor got his due. Way to go, Irfann bhai!
Best Music director: Shankar? Ehsan- LoyGreat job, dudes!
Special Performance Award: Kareena? Oh? why? am? I? so? talented? Kappor
This award has taken Film Farce awards to a new high( Or is it Low?). I mean what sort of nonsense is this? According to the Jury they have decided to honor Karrena for taking up the?tough and Challenging? role of a hooker in Chameli! So what?s the big deal? Are?nt actors suppose to take up challenging roles? The role of a hooker in a small budget film is any day better than running around the alps of Switzerland with an animated parrot in a big budget flick. What do u say?
The Power Award: Shah rukh Khan and Amitabh BachchanAnother new award which I suspect we won?t see next year? Hopefully! This award is given to the people who have changed the Entertainment? Economy? of the country . Atleast this is what we were told by the *baap *of all Anil Ambani . And who better then King Khan and the Big B to honor first time around .( In a pathetic attempt to look? Cool? AB sported a pair of glasses which would have looked cool on only Fardeen Khan . Why this Gimmick, Mr Bachchan? We rerspect and love you for what you are, so please stop irritating us .)
Highlights:
The Desperate attempt at humor by Shah rukh Khan? Saif Khan Duo. Sorry guys, the one liners and the gay act did?nt tickle the funny bone at all!
The sisterly dance act by Kareena to the hit tunes of her sister Karishma. Why? Arre yaar, she wanted to show her love for her sister to one and all. Apparently they don?t get to see each other too often these days. Poor me! And yes, Karishma dear was really touched by this show of affection by her kid sister. Just wondering if this show was financed by the hubby of Karishma. After all, these award shows are a family affair .
Kareena telling us( as if we care!) that she wanted Film fare to recognize her work in Chameli and it feels so good to get the trophy( Spl . Performance) . She also tells us that this is the first time a? commercial actress has done the role of a sex worker at such a young age? . Wow! Never knew that . How about some national award for Kappor Jr. BTW, I thought Sharmila Tagore, apart from many other big names, did a similar role many moons ago .
Afterthought:
How come Sanjay Dutt was nominated for the Best Actor In a Comic Role . He was obviously the main lead in Munna Bhai. If his performance was so good, he should have been nominated for the Best Actor, isn?t it?
Preity Zinta was nominated for her role in Koi Mil gaya . Why? Did anyone actually found her performance great in the film?
Why do these award shows only recognize Stars and not mere actors?
Why is it necessary to give a token award to all the Stars?
