This seems to be a season for disasters. With Aksar and Holiday which released earlier, and Fight Club… releasing this week, directors are on a roll when it comes to churn out disasters. One hour into the movie, and it doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out that this latest Bollywood film will probably suffer the same fate.

Fight Club is about four college friends — Vicky (Zayed Khan), Karan (Dino Morea), Dicku (Ashish Chaudhary) and Soumil (Riteish Deshmukh) who come up with a novel idea of starting a fight club for people to earn money.

Anybody who wants to fight can come there and settle scores scores; only they have to play within the rules of the fight club. The problems begin when the foursome get accused of murdering an ex-underworld don’s (Sunil Shetty) brother.

The film has a hackneyed plot and though director Vikram Chopra compensates it with style and panache, the film lacks the power to keep you hooked as it unfolds.

Very frankly, Fight Club is akin to a mannequin. You admire it for all its beauty, but you cannot overlook the fact that it lacks life.

Revenge saga are subjects that have been witnessed a zillion times in Bollywood. Fight Club falters primarily in this horizon. For any action drama to leave a mark, it ought to be embellished with nail-biting moments, but that razor sharp impact is clearly missing in Fight Club. After a reasonably impressive start, the screenplay meanders in the same lane that the viewer has visited umpteen times earlier.

Performance-wise, Sohail carries off the role with remarkable ease. How one wishes his role was lengthier! Zayed is likeable as well. Ashish Chowdhary looks overweight and looks uncomfortable in light scenes.Dino is okay. Sunil tries to impress. Diya is all right.

All up Fight Club is all gloss, no substance.
