Never stretch a rubber band beyond a point. That's what happens with Fight Club. A waferthin storyline has been stretched and overstretched, so much so that by the time it reaches its finale, you've already run out of breath… and patience .Oh!what a waste...

Fight Club tells the tale of four friends – Vicky (Zayed Khan), Karan (Dino Morea), Somil (Ritesh Deshmukh) and Diku (Ashish Chaudhary). Fun, frivolity and fights are the primary indulgence of the four friends. The quartet decides to form a fight club that will provide people with the service of settling scores with enemies.

Story takes a turn when the four friends go to Delhi for an assignment in a nightclub that has been at the receiving end of the ire of a few dangerous and notorious gangsters.Things become grave after the killing of the brother of Anna (Sunil Shetty), a powerful and influential man. Anna vows revenge. As the battle lines are drawn, the four friends call on their invincible buddy Sameer (Sohail Khan) for help. Equations change with the coming of Sameer.

The basic plot of the film is interesting and the makers have tried to make the proceedings look different from the run-of-the-mill types. The narration is quite exciting in the first few reels especially when the concept of fight club is build.Although the first half of this enterprise abound in illogical moments, they are yet captivating and the viewer looks forward to an equally gripping, exciting and entertaining second half.

The script is the sole drawback of Fight Club. The writer's inability to come up with a tight script is visible in the second half. It seems he wanted to pack all commercial ingredients, from comedy to emotions to romance to drama, in those fifty minutes.

Anu Malik's music does not elevate the proceedings one bit. Nor does it help in salvaging the show. Barring Yeh Khuda (which is expertly choreographed and picturised), the remaining songs are plain mediocre. In fact, the placement of songs is equally disturbing. How one misses a synergy between the songs and the goings-on in the second half. Cinematography is inconsistent. At times good, most of the times average.

Vikram Chopra has made a stylish film, no two opinions on that, but he ought to know by now that a viewer wants a story at the end of the day. Gloss and grandeur are like an icing on a pudding, but what if the pudding itself is tasteless?

Fight Club has a large cast, but only a few actors really make an impact. Dino Morea comes across as a dependable actor. He enacts his part with conviction. Zayed looks great, acts well most of the times, but goes overboard in some sequences . Ashish plays to the gallery most of the times. Sunil is functional.

Dia Mirza lends freshness to the enterprise, but how one wishes she had a meatier role. Amrita Arora is wasted.

Viewers who respect their sense should stay far way...
