So enough has been written on this movie and I do appreciate the stuffs. In my opinion if we relate this movie with ''calvin and hobbes'' then we would probably enjoy and understand the movie more.

This movie was inspired by the famous ''calvin and Hobbes'' comic strips.

Calvin is to Jack while Hobbes is to Tyler.

Calvin saw Hobbes more as a living friend while other saw it only as a stuffed tiger, in the movie Jack had an imaginary friend Tyler whom no one else see.

Few facts…. And then you all will realize the beauty of the movie.

Hobbes was nothing but an excuse for Calvin to justify all his wrongful acts; similarly Tyler was the one who Jack believed was responsible for every mischief and violent acts like running the fight club.

Interestingly the movie plot is set for a grown up Calvin. I mean it goes like this, that Calvin in his childhood is a loner and in his subconscious he creates a character out of Hobbes. This subconscious grows and grows as Calvin matures and reaches adulthood. Hobbes residing in Calvin’s mind sees and does everything that Calvin does. Calvin/Jack is left alone without any happiness in his life, he feels emptiness, and then suddenly Hobbes/Tyler comes into the picture determined to take Calvin for a ride.

In the movie, Tyler to Jack: ''I look like you wanna look, I fk like you wanna fk, I’m smart, capable, and most importantly, I’m free in all the ways you wish you could be.''

Calvin has always idolized Hobbes. In ''Weirdos From Another Planet'', he dresses up like a tiger and attempts to live in the woods. Like Hobbes, Tyler is cool, collected, and incredibly cerebral.

Lets talk about Susie Durkins named as Marla in the movie, the classmate of Calvin/Jack who is very grade-obsessed. So she grows under pressure. This is portrayed in the movie as she losses her way and succumbs to darkness and drugs. Calvin and Susie do meet in future but they fail to recognize each other. While Calvin and Susie mostly teased and tortured each other, Hobbes was infatuated with her; the same is shown in the movie as well. Certain strips do show that Calvin was in love with Susie, though he hated her most of the time. Hobbes as a gentlemen always called her cutie.

Now coming to “Fight Club”. If you all remember GROSS (Get Rid of Slimmy girlS) club started by Calvin which was only a boys club, “fight club” is also the same. There are some salient correlations between GROSS and FIGHT CLUB. Both have loyal members, both are very secretive organization and both run by males.

Now I have just triggered the interest to watch the movie and find out more clues wherein you can relate the comic strip with the movie.

Calvin’s world in the comic strip is romanticized idealism, whereas in the movie, he lives in lonely reality…. Watch the movie and read calvin and hobbes that’s my recommendation.
