Story:

The mountains of beliefs are not to be questioned If one question religious believes they are suppose to be ruined in the fire of God's anger. For generations our forefathers believed these and through them we belief so. The world famous inspirational writer Paulo Coelho challenges these believes and try to establish that God is with those who challenge him and not with those who belief God is not for questioning.

In the book, Paulo Coelho identifies himself with Eliah of Bible. If one read paulo's Zaheer one will understand Paulo's childhood intuitions or insights and in Fifth Mountain also he tries to tell it in another form. In my review on the Alchemist, I told that the soul intrudes a matter and it is the soul and not the matter that keeps the life. Here, Paulo transform himself as Eliah and the Fifth Mountain is the biography style novel of prophet Eliah. Paulo identify himself with Eliah when he describe Eliah's childhood days. Because of this identification Paulo manage to give his version of how Eliah get god's messages. One who read the book of Eliah, the story is not new. Eliah always believed that he is selected specially by god. Jasabel the beautiful girl from Finishia land in Israel and converted all the Israelis to her believe of "Bal God". She threatened to kill all the prophets of Israel if they didn't worship the Bal God. Eliah stood against the odd and challenged beautiful Jasabel. She ordered to kill all prophets of Israel who still believe in "Yahve" and Eliah is the pin pointed person by Jasabel. Specially selected by God, Eliah gets messages from God and send to a different place where a crow is deputed to give food to the prophet. Later he was taken to the city Akhbar, where a widow was assigned the duty of feeding Eliah. She later become the love interst of Eliah and calls herself as Akhbar. A war was in the offing and Eliah took the front seat when it comes to rebuilding of a war torn country. It is not the story itself, but the way Paulo brought up the real point in question.

The name of Israel was given by God to Jacob (from Jews believes, which is been read by Christians and Muslims) who one night fought with God till morning and still remain equal. In the morning, when God wanted to leave Jacob didn't leave God without blessing him. There God gave the name Israel to Jacob and later it became the name of the religion.

Paulo Coelho is known for his questioning attitude and if one read carefully his books, they can identify many specific incidents questioning the church believes where he will mention the actual facts. This do not means that Paulo is acting as an atheist. To the contrary, Paulo ask us to challenge our religious believes in the light of knowledge. He calls us not to afraid to question or challenge God. If Jacob fought with God and still God blessed him, it only means if we need to be in the liking of God, we need to challenge him to find his wish. When Paulo gives his own explanations to miracles he however falls far short of make us believe of its believability.

The second main point Paulo mention in this book is that what we hold now the name is the one which was given by our parents when we born. We need to find out our own name dealing with the circumstances we live in. Using the light we received, the knowledge we accumulated and situations we face we have to find out our name. In another words, our names should reflect our goals.

As a story teller, I have noticed that Paulo is lacking the patience to finish what he starts. In his novel Zaheer, he shown this impatience at the cost of the story and here again, the writer failed to finish the story the way he brought up the one. Instead he jump to conclusions and start delivering his advises and philosophy. The success of The Alchemist was that the story was simple and he successfully delivered it. The story keeps and fulfilling the audience suspense and interest, where in Fifth mountain he again failed to finish the story with due importance.

Another problem in Paulo's later writing is that he has very much taken by the success of the Alchemist and he wants to repeat it. To do so, he permits himself to recollect memories of the Alchemist and his other writings and the readers immediately take the repetitions.

Having said all above, the book "Fifth Mountain" is similar to the ones of Paulos and sure worth a read for who like his earlier works. There are many interested quotes and enlightening observations in the book and it is surely a worthwhile book to read and to take notes.

The Fifth Mountain is believed to be the mountain Gods, but Paulo's fifth mountain is build of two pillars each. One, we should have aim in our life. We should find ourselves out and look for our own goal. Two, to fulfill this goal we should strive our hard. Even if we are fallen or back we still has to fight from the ruins. Our success lies where our ability to look after the failures and lead our abilities and associates to the glory. Follow your dreams even if you fall out of it.

Guys, you can start reading this book if it come across to you some timeā€¦.Not a masterpiece from the author, but the book carry an original stamp of Paulo Coelho. It is for the author you may read the book
