HAVING DRIVEN A SUMO FOR 78000KMS I WAS LOOKING FOR SOMETHING SLEEKER WITH WHICH I DID NOT HAVE TO ENTER INTO AN ARM WRESTLING CONTEST. AFTER HAVING TEST DRIVEN THE LANCER(dL.), ASTRA (dl) AND THE ASCENT DLX MY CHOICE FELL ON SIENNA ELX(dl). I HAVE NEVER REGRETTED MY DECISION.WHAT A CAR! WHEN IT COMES TO AUTOMOBILES, EUROPE BEATS ASIA AND USA HANDS DOWN. AFTER THE INITIAL HESITATION IN THE FIRST GEAR THE CAR GOES LIKE A SLINGSHOT THE MOMENT THE TURBO KICKS IN AT A LOW 2500 RPM. THEN THERE IS NO STOPPING IT. I HAVE PERSONALLY TAKEN IT UPTO 164 KMPH ON THE G.T. ROAD TO PUNJAB AND HAVE YET TO FIND A CAR THAT COULD BEAT IT ON A STRAIGHT STRETCH. THE ENGINE IS SIMPLY UNBEATABLE. THOUGH A BIT NOISY WHEN COLD, IT SETTLES DOWN TO A THROATY PURR AFTER IT WARMS UP. THE INSULATION IS SIMPLY UNBEATABLE AND ONCE YOU HAVE THE DOORS SHUT AND THE WINDOWS UP, YOU CAN BARELY HEAR YOUR OWN HORN. THE BRAKES ARE SPOT ON AND TOTALLY TRUSTWORTHY AND THE POWER STEERING IS FEATHER LIGHT WHICH TENDS TO BE A BIT TOO LIGHT AFTER 130 KMPH. THE HUGE 50 LTR. BOOT IS A DELIGHT THOUGH I WOULD HAVE PREFERRED A LID RIGHT DOWN TO THE FLOOR. THE INTERIOR ARE SIMPLY SUPERB AND THE CAR HAS A NUMBER OF THOUGHFUL DEVICES LIKE SIDE MIRRORS CONTROLLABLE FROM INSIDE, REAR DEFOGGER, FOG LIGHTS, STEREO WHICH ARE ALL ORIGINAL EQUIPMENTS. THE SEATING POSITION OF THE DRIVER ALLOWS YOU TO DRIVE FOR HUNDREDS OF MILES WITHOUT UNDUE FATIGUE.
HOWEVER A WORD OF CAUTON. THE CAR IS TOO LOW SLUNG FOR ANY OF ROAD DRIVING OR THE HORRIBLE SPEED BREAKERS THAT WE HAVE IN INDIA. SO BE READY FOR THE GUT WRENCHING TEARING SOUND FROM THE UNDER CARRIAGE. ALSO, THE LESS SAID ABOUT THE SERVICE, THE BETTER. THE COMPANY IS NOT RESPONSIVE WHICH IT SHOULD BE IF IT WANTS TO SURVIVE IN THE CUT-THROAT COMPETETION. BUT AS FAR AS THE PRODUCT GOES, THERE ARE NO COMPLAINTS.
