I recently test drove a fiat linea T Jet. It's a great product!
Fiat is known to build really good looking and very good quality products. This T Jet is definitely one of them. The pick up is quick and smooth and braking is also equally efficient though it is bit too sudden at times but I like what they have done to the brakes. I comfortably overtook a Honda City at 120+ and amazingly engine rpm was only about 2500 in fifth gear at that speed! This must be the magic of turbo charger.
Overall a good product but Fiat needs to workout it's after sales service and dealership network problems. Without a proper network I doubt they will be successful in India.
But I have one complaint and it is not limited to Fiat Linea or Fiat: All the foreign manufacturers have the indicator switch on left hand side of steering wheel. It is understandable to have this switch on left hand side for countries where they have Left Hand Drive vehicles but for country like India where we have Right Hand Drive vehicles and then also auto gear is not so popular, we should have the indicator switch on the right side of steering wheel. With left hand busy with gear lever how do they expect us to turn on the indicator while turning! And probably this is one of the reason(though not the only one!) that we Indians do not switch on our indicators while turning. It's not a very big cost to manufacturers, if they can bring the steering to right from left they can bring the same change to indicator switch too. I think we should have road safety departments look into this and force all these foreign manufacturers to bring about this change in indicator switch's location.
