My first car and I cant ask for a better one. I first saw punto during my travel to Italy in 2006. It was love at first sight. Happen to travel few times on punto( I dint know driving then) during my stay in Italy. I was waiting for its launch in India.
Soon after fiat launched in India, bought punto emotion diesel in Nov 2009 and now into 6th year of running. Having completed 45K, I can say my choice was not wrong. My car has stopped only once on road( Battery bolt was not tightened during maintenance) in these 5.5 years. Replaced batter after 5 yrs and its clutch sleeve was replaced during its warranty period.
Apart from these minor issues never had any issue with the car.
These are my opinion after 5yrs and 45K drive.
1.Drive quality: Even after 5yrs drive quality is same and response and feedback you get while driving is awesome. Never goes out of control. Drive and handling is best among the hatches available in India. I can say its a great highway car and its drivers car.
2.Mileage:Still gives a good mileage of 23Kms on highway and nearly 16Km inside city.
3.Maintenance: With avg maintenance cost of around 6K for every 15000 Kms service is not bad.
4.Build quality: Met with accidents twice, one major and one minor, still no noise and vibration.
Final thought
You cant buy a good car based on just spare part costs and servicing. If you love driving and looking for a car with good build quality, go for punto. Bet you will not regret.
