There is nothing odd about a household which wakes up in the morning, smells churning out of the kitchen, the occupants hurrying up to dress and leave. Except that this household is being driven by a Dad, Rustam. As he perks up the day packing tiffin for his son Kayo, chappatis adorned with smileys, serving breakfast to a little grumpy dad. The movie freshens up into a Parsi household with the beautiful track playing in the background, life yeh mausambi si. Dropping the kid to the school, helping an ambulance steer clear of a traffic jam, attending his duties as a RTO clerk, efficiently memorizing the make and deal of every car; here we see a guy who fits the dreams and emotions of his son and dad respectively in his life. Of using up all his savings to buy him a cricket bat, to make sure to attend all his cricket sessions and taking up to a point where he decides to send him for a Coaching sessions at Lord’s. Therein begins a ride of Confusion, Mixed Emotions, Dreams at Stake and a lot more that finally gives in to the fact Hopes and Dreams are not just seen, but lived…

To my surprise the worst or probably should say the sorry state of affairs of the reviewers, movie gist and such prints is that it never speaks about the intent or the content of the movie. While some gist made it sound like a Comedy, others made it sound like a preachy feel-good genre of cinema. But Ferrari ki Sawari is none. The title of the movie definitely surrounds around a much spoken Red Ferrari (belonging to the Cricket God himself), but the flick is much more than that. It’s the simplest projection of a Dad and Son relationship, a Dad and Son relationship, and a Grandfather and Grandkid relationship; and all the three of them together. A rare occurrence where male protagonists get an extremely beautiful emotional quotient, a nuance of the bond they share, and their half-lived dreams, passions which they aim to fulfill eventually.

Sharman Joshi ‘s character as Rusy(Rustam) is commendable, and easily can be related to. To not to the audience which was silently muttering under the breath “oh such a stupid-honest-what-the-hell-Harishchandra”.Coz of his honesty that if he has to goto a traffic inspector and get himself challan for a red light, even if he was not noticed by a traffic inspector, so that his kid learns good conduct. But to a single struggling parent who tries to do everything perfectly for his kid, he is well understood. Definitely from his earlier acts of Life in a Metro and Three Idiots, he has established himself as a representative of medium class household which struggles to make their ends meet.

Kayo (Ritvik Sahore) brings in a very fresh promise to the child artist squad . And you see a very matured relationship of a kid who picks up a bat and puts it back because the price label is beyond his parent’s reach.

But its Boman’s act which takes the cake! With a slight slump in his shoulder, and a constant grump, a TV bellowing in the background, a slight slur in the speech; he just portrays the role perfectly. Of also a genius, being failed miserably by his pal.

There are certain characters running a sub-plot(surrounding the Ferrari) which are as promising as the central ones, Humlog ki “badki” as an Event organizer, a Politician, his son, Sachin’s servant, a peon. And honestly none of them appears as a waste or taking up that extra footage.

Rajesh Mapuskar does an extremely decent effort to give a flick at the right timing on the right day and just with the right packaging. Except for a couple of slips in the script (the media scene was totally unnecessary), he has been able to deliver it well. Vidya Balan’s lavani and a Father’s Day Movie, Bollywood is definitely reaching places !!
