The Story So Far

This is my second review concerning Formula1. I was under the impression that there are very few F1 fans out here at Mouthshut , so I never wrote another review on this topic. But since a member called ''DJ pinging'' has asked for it, I am only too happy to oblige. Anyone who thinks that this article is boring can blame the current F1 scenerio, DJ pinging and my writing skills.

?Ferrari is getting their As..es kicked?? is how a dumb chuck would describe the season so far for Ferrari. This is ?cause this dumb chuck knows that?

1) Renault so far has won all the three races.

2) Fernando Alanso the leading driver is talented, aggressive and charged up.

3) The Michelin tires are doing a great job.

4) Gaincarlo Fisicella the other Renault driver is very good and will see to it that the Ferrari combine don?t get ahead.

Now what would the smart fan say? hmm.. one way to put it would be ?there are 16 more races to go? stupid!?. The smart fan has reasons for saying this:

1) In 1997, Ferrari with a slower car managed to screw Team Williams?s peace of mind with Schumi?s mid-season wins at Monte Carlo, Canada, France, Belgium ?etc.

2) In 1998, Ferrari managed to do the same to McLaren (again with the slower car) with Schumi winning at Argentina, Canada, France? etc.

3) Ferrari is extremely resilient, the most resourceful and has the most talented driver lineup (Schumi and Barichello are head and shoulders above the rest of the one-two driver combinations).

Now the smartest fan would probably say ?what goes around, comes around?. Now to support this mysterious use of the phrase, he would sight the following pointers:

1) 2004 season dominance by Ferrari was not without reasons. One of them being that the driver who wins the first race carries the advantage into the next race in terms of qualifying, i.e. the race winner can go out last during the qualifying session knowing the time that he needs to set, a clean racing line and a car whose setup is most up to date with the prevailing conditions like track temperature, tire wear etc..

2) Bridgestone is blundering all the way by working only with Ferrari and some other tail end team. This is a very significant disadvantage for Bridgestone in the sense that they have very little data regarding tire wear rate and hence Ferrari are unable to put in consistently fast laps during the race.

3) Fernando Alanso has a 26-point lead over Schumi. To cover this deficit, Schumi will have to win more than ten races with Alanso failing to finish or coming forth or fifth in a few races.

So all in all, the entire situation is very tight for Ferrari and they may have to kiss the championship or atleast the constructor?s cup goodbye this season. Only true Shumi/Ferrari fans out there, can understand the pain that I went through while writing this review.
