Federal Bank has a zero balance selfie account option. Never go for that app, you download it, take a selfie, upload documents and you get an account open. You will get a message asking to visit the nearest branch with Aadhar and PAN card. But when you reach the bank, the story is different. Today visited Angamaly branch. The lady in account opening section asked me to bring copy of PAN card, Aadhar card and a photo. I asked her why you need copies of these focuments and photo when I have already uploaded it in app? She said it suppose to be filed. Such a stupid bank, why they need to file it in digital india.
You do not need any paper for taking a SIM now, there are many paperless banks and NBFCs. Even in a loan process they do not require any document to be signed. Then why the hell they need it. That lady couldnt explain why they need to file the documents. She was adamant and keep on saying we need photo and the copies. I have shown her the SMS reveived, have a look;
"Dear Customer, Thank you for opening SELFIE account with us. Your account number is 99980111480302. Kindly visit any Federal Bank Branch along with your Aadhaar card and PAN card to activate this account . Use IFSC - FDRL0001001 for NEFT fund transfer-Federal Bank"
Her version is not mentioned anywhere. Why wasting time.
They are still in stone age, they cannot envisage to have paperless banking. Ridiculous, really strange and unprofessional.
