Up the Faraway Tree!

My favourite books in childhood? It's gotta be all of the ones written by 'the greatest story-teller of the 20th century!' (How I know that...I did my thesis on Enid Blyton so spent hours and hours reading and researching on her;))  How did I ever get hooked onto Blyton's books? I really can't tell...maybe it was that kind but eccentric looking mathematics tutor who would visit my home to tutor my older sisters...the only reason why I'd wait up for him and ot go on to play with the friends those evenings? You guessed it...he's ever so sweetly bring me second-hnd Enid Blyton books.

I still have many of 'em. Right from Noddy to the Circus series...to the evergreen school stories and the adventure books...I devoured them all...the 15-minute tales would be read in like no time. The Farawy tree is another book that I read as a child (i remember it was definitely a second hand one cause I can still picture Moon Face--one of the character's face painted majenta pink and that picture smelled of Luxor sketch pens then! If you wanna know what effect that book has on me...check my user id!!! Blyton's circus stories were another series I read and totally enjoyed as a kid! Wow...Jimmy and Lotta got to call their parents by their Christian names!

Malory towers...st.clare's...the naughtiest girl...famous five...secret...seven...adventure series...the junior mytery stories...the five find-outers....well my ol' school librarian will tell you just how often I'd be seen in the school library...reading all of those adorable books....i think (and so does my study---the thesis mentioned above) states that Enid Blyton is still one of the most popular children's authors t date! and  I hope she reigns foever...Amen to that!
