The greatest poem ever known

is one all poets have outgrown

The poetry, innate, untold

of being four years old

-Christopher Morley

Those days of innocence.can never return, but will always be fondly remembered. Whenever I come across a book that I had read when I was a kid, memories of childhood would come flooding back.those days of freedom and cheer, when we didn't even know what worries were.

My favourite childhood pass-time was listening to my grandfather relate stories, mythological as well as make-believe. Incidentally he was the one who gave me my first book to read.

The very first book I read was The Panchatantra

This book makes an excellent read for kids as the central characters in the stories are either animals or magical, mythical people. I remember finding the story of the blue jackal, very humourous(the jackal accidently dyes himself blue and proclaims himself King of the jungle)

When I was around 9-10 years old, I was introduced to the world of Enid Blyton. She remains one of my favourite authors even today. Her books that I loved and still love are the Famous Five, Secret Seven and Malory Towers.

I remember whenever I used to be naughty, my mom used to threathen me by saying if I didn't behave myself( just an empty threat, but I was naive enough to believe her and quiten down), I would be sent to a boarding school. But after reading Malory Towers, i was too bothered about the idea, which left my mom very very frustrated indeed.:)

Other books that were my favourites were

Tinkle-I loved the adventures of Shikari Shambhu and tales of Suppandi's foolishness.

Champak, Chandamama, Chacha Chowdhary. are the other books that I used to love reading.

Even today, sometimes we feel bored during the day, but are not in the mood to read a serious novel, or when we are feeling extremely depressed and sorry for ourselves, we'll find that reading books like these automatically make our spirits rise.

So the next time you are searching for a good book to read, and not getting anywhere, do consider re-reading these books that serve as sweet reminders of the time when we were the most happiest.:)
