Fashion, not usual madhur's stuff. Review on Fashion

It was 12 mid noon and I was still hanging in the thought how to end my deewali blues as I took unofficial off from office….the best  idea was to go for my favorite pass time and thanks to the producers due to holiday both the new movies Fashion and Golmaal return released on Wednesday and being partial to realistic movies Fashion was my obvious choice.

Fashion was much awaited movie, as it was Madhur’s movie who after a debacle of a flop movie Trishakti reincarnated himself to become a sensible director with movies like Chandani bar, Page 3, Corporate & Traffic singal. A particular bunch on film critics refer him to be a realistic director who expose the reality in todays’s world any ways that’s a debatable topic but fashion is close to that which touched a couple of recent incident related to this industry.

The movie starts with a typical rag to rich story of a Upcoming model Meghna( Priyanka Chopra) who after winning a small beauty pageant at chandigarh wish to make it big in Modeling industry and in the process few resourceful people support him Like an assistant of a big designer

Mr. Khurana(Harsh Chaya) a struggling Model Janet( Mughdha Godse - a surprise package with a good performance). She tries to compete the supermodel Shonali Gujaral( Kangana Ranawat) who plays a role of spoilt pampered super model. On the way she get support of a modeling agency tycoon Sareen( Arbaaz Khan)through Kitu gidwani. First half goes fine with some Loud music in between for Ramp shows which some time irritates.

The second half goes with the various incident in meghna’s life her change in attitude which was unfair for her larger than life persona while becoming a super model and side by side shonali‘s & janet's life has also been given a little coverage.

Performances:Its an author backed role for Priyanka and movie is about a struggle of an individual in the fashion industry.Priyanka was just'fine' but I would have loved to see a not so settled model cum actress in this role.She was ok but there was not a single frame where you could have judged her outstanding. I don’t know why Kangana did this movie and please she should do some different role we are fed up her seeing in the same character of ditched, alcoholic & exploited girl.Mugdha even in the second lead impressed me though it was her first movie but I can vouch she will go a long way. Kittu Gidwani was appreciable, Arbaaz khan, sameer soni and the chakh de girl did justice to there role but Harsh Chaya was wasted, he is a good actor he did  tried to experiment but was not so impressive. Even Arjun Baajwa in the role of Priyanka's boyfriend was good but wasn't given much of screen space to show off his talent. But the show stealer was mugdha godse.

Musicwas fine and you will keep on listening jalwa jalwa time and time again on ramp shows

It’s a good song and obviously saleem sulieman did justice to back ground score and somewhat music is also good due to songs like  Mar jaawa& mohit chauhan’s Kuch khaas haiwhich you can keep as caller tunes.Al the song were well placed. Cinematographywas good as movie was looking fresh throughout. Scriptwas fine but was stretched in the last 20 min, it would have been concluded earlier. Not too many hard hitting dialogues except the one I liked “ Insaan har us aadmi se neeche utarte wakt milta hai jinke sahare wo upar jaate hai”

Madhur was good as usual as a director but some how I expected some thing great from him like his earlier movies, he is known to be the best blend of commercial and art cinema but this is lacking in this movie. some eye opening remarks or something a common man is unaware is missing. As expected and known fact of gay designers, exploitation etc was there but not a single frame to arouse your though. It was a still a hard hitting movie and people who are interested in glamour industry will think about in a couple of days. Lets see what lies in his upcoming movie “Jail”  .

On the whole I must warn all those who would be expecting some spice or rather I should say an untold facts of Fashion industry. If you are walking in with the expecations that has been built with Page 3 than you will get only disapointment.  It did not flashed any thing new like Madhur’r other movie. I felt no groundwork was done, it was all picked from the'Layman's knowledge bank'.   *

Conclusively its a one time watch movie and and I would give 2 and half star.  *
