After Chandni Bar, Any film from Madhur Bhandarkar had created an expectation of sorts as one has come to terms with a higher standard of film making.

Fashion, however, fails to meet expected standards in all respects. One has seen the decline of quality fare from Madhur post Page 3 and the so-called reality which he portends to depict in his recent films have started to come across as extremely cliched characters.

The film could work as an interesting insight into the glam world of Indian fashion but that too in the smaller towns and cities where there still remains interest to know about the glitzy happenings of bollywood and the couture high-fashion industry which has served as a platform for many subsequent bollowood actors.

I doubt if the film could appeal to the general strata in the big cities(apart from the highly impressionable young section of society) as much of the going's on in the fashion world are over emphasized by all mediums of the media these days.

The storyline of Fashion wears very thin from the start. It seems to become even thinner, post interval as most of what takes place becomes hightly predictible by then. The script too fails very badly this time. The characters seem to obvious and stale. There is hardly any freshness in them. Either they are portrayed as over the top or as comic cariacatures. Apart from one or two characters, all others seems very cliched. Madhur seems to have got this aspect(characterisation) very wrong this time.

The main actors, apart from being'well done up'(Mughda does manage to look real svelte) there is not much in terms of acting or performance excepting for looking pretty which is to be expected as per the film's theme.

The promotion of the various fashion brands too in many cases is not subliminal as it should be, a case point being the Kimaya brand which takes almost all of centre stage post interval.

The Music of the film though is above average. Some songs do actually linger in memory well after the movie is over.

Unless one has really nothing better to do, I would suggest a dekho of this film. For me though, a huge disappointment.
