Story:

The Magic Faraway Tree is one of a series of wonderful books by Enid Blyton. It includes: Adventures of the Wishing Chair, The Enchanted Wood, and The Folk of the Faraway Tree. As a child we all have had dreams of magical places where we could go and meet wonderful characters like fairies, pixies, brownies, goblins, elves etc. (atleast I did). These thoughts were probably influenced by reading The Magic Faraway Tree by Enid Blyton.

I have read almost all the books written by Enid Blyton as a child. I just loved her book and have often wondered how she could churn out so many books, each one as captivating as the other if not more! She had such creative idea. I wonder if I will ever be able to write just one book in my lifetime! About a year back, I purchased the set of books for my daughter and I have to shamelessly admit that I sat reading it first  (It was like revisiting my childhood)

The Magic Faraway Tree is about three children (Bessie, Fanny and Jo) who live in a cottage with their parents. The Enchanted Wood is an ordinary looking forest near their cottage. In the centre of it, there is a special tree which you climb up, to reach various magical lands. The tree also has magical fruits with a magical creature living on each branch. The children meet a variety of characters including a fairy called Silky, Mister Watzisname (because he doe not know his name), the old Saucepan Man and Moon-Face. Moon face lives at the very top and he always accompanies the children into the land above the tree. And ofcourse the Angry Pixie, who throws water at you should you look through his window.

In this story, their cousin (Dick) comes to stay with them and the children enjoy showing him the Enchanted Wood and the Faraway Tree. The three children take Dick to the tree and they visit various lands and have lots of adventures. They visit the Land of Dreams (where you to fall into a deep sleep as soon as you arrive and you don't want to sleep too long as the lands move on), the Land of Goodies, the Land of Topsy-Turvy (where everything is upside down and people walk on their hands), the Land of Nursery Rhymes (where all your favorite characters are around) and the Land of Tempers. Sounds exciting does it not?

It is a very exciting read for children (and for the adults too). Hey no! I am not strange. Read the book to understand!
