Faraar in my opinon is one of most different hindi films of the 70's, because it had a new story to the film. The film did averagely at the box office, but is one of the best thrillers of bollywood. The film was released in 1975, when amitabh was riding high on the success of zanjeer, deewar, chupke chupke, majboor.

The films is directed by shankar mukherjee, who had also directed dev anand's film called banarsi babu, which was also a pretty good movie.

The film stars, amitabh bachnan, sanjeev kumar, sharmila tagore and the music is by kalyanji anandji.

In the film amitabh plays raj, who is a simple young man, and is also in love with

Mala (sharmila tagore), whom he wants to marry after finding a suitable husband for his sister. Raj is happily living with his mother and a younger sister, however fate intervenes in the form of murder of raj's family member. Raj's sister is raped and brutally murdered.

The police are unable to locate the killer, then raj tries to find the killer in his own, and when he does he murders the killer, he takes the law in his own hands, in result raj is now on the run from the police.

Meanwhile, mala gets married to a honest police officer sanjay(sanjeev kumar) and the two are happy family with one son. Raj accidentaly reenters mala's house while running away from the police. He hides in one of the bedrooms, until one day when mala see's him. He tells her everything that has happened to him and she lets him hide in their house.

The situation takes a turn when raj's case is takven over by sanjay. Sanjay and mala's marriage gets affected when sanjay finds out that raj is hiding in their house. Raj has also taken their son as a hostage and locked him self in a room with their son, so now the police cannot arrest him. Rajesh must now decide to give up the child for his freedom or use the child to make a getaway.

This is a very serious film, there is no hansi and mazak, in this type of a film. The story was different from the 70's film, where lot of films those days had the same stories, revenge or a love story. This is one movie that deserves 10 out of 10, since it has all the elements which a good movie should have.

I don't know why a movie like this would go average the box office, last year's film my wife's murder might be similar to this, because anil kapoor is trying to get away from the police as well, that movie bombed as well, it's a shame nice movies don't do well in bollywood.

The songs are allright especially the song mein pyaasa tu sawan sung by amitabh and sharmila.

Performancewise- Amitabh gives an awesome performancein the role of a murderer hiding in the house of a police officer, but inwillingly as his wife has been his girlfriend before her marriage. after all of his angry young man roles from 70's amitabh gives difficult performance where you can't image anyone else except amitabh in this film, he gave a another different performance in the film majboor. Sharmila tagore also gives a good performance a woman trapped between her husband and exlover. Sanjeev kumar as always gives a bravo performance in the role of a helpless police officer who cannot take hold of a criminal because his son is a hostage.

There is no flaw in the film and the story, acting and direction is great.
