The bond between “cool drinks” and film stars is never ending. The latest among the lot being Fanta. Not to be left behind, Fanta has roped in Rani Mukherjee for it’s recentmost commercial.

In the ad we see Rani and a friend at the airport and two guys catch their(it actually is only Rani’s) attention. One of their comments, “Bahut sahi hai yaar”, made in a very hushed tone offends Rani and we see “the all new bubbly” Rani taking a swig of Fanta and walking over to them. Moving up an elevated stand, she makes an announcement to anyone who cares to listen about the stunned guy’s remark. Not only that, but she also gives him a number of suggestions to entice someone in a very sweet and decent manner. Eventually, she tells him “agar kuch bolna hai, to dil khol ke” and a confident Rani leaves the man speechless.

The concept of the ad being “Live your life and speak your heart out” is extremely appealing. Though it is not very novel, it still has it’s charm and such themes always manage to grab the viewers’ interest. The execution managed to be decent but couldn’t convey what it wanted to, appropriately. It tried it’s best to do so, but just couldn’t potray the vivacious and bouncy view of life. It failed to bring the “Dil Khol ke” attitude of life properly to the TV-audience. All one ends up feeling is that Ms.Mukherjee should rather stay to films, because she overacts in commercials and the new “full of life” look doesn’t suit Rani who suits sensible, civilized and well mannered roles better. The guy who is Rani’s “bali ka bakra” is perfect and fits the part to the T. He certainly manages to appear embarrassed and astonished which “does” seem comical

Also, the advertisement resulted being very lengthy. Ads are supposed to be crisp and short so that they can acquire the viewers’ notice. This particular campaign focused chiefly on Rani’s monologue which was longer than necessary. Ultimately, we get the impression that this is basically a “Rani Mukerjee” ad rather than being a Fanta ad.
