''Teri Sanson Mein Mujhe Panaah Mil Jaye

Tere Ishq Mein Meri Jaan Fanaah Ho Jaye''

A movie which dares to be different and in the process generates mixed feelings.

A love story where the characters are real and all too human.

A simple blind girl, who has been raised on the dreams of finding a prince charming who will come and sweep her off her feet.

A seemingly innocent flirt who admittedly flits from girl to girl and believes in needs rather than feelings.

The girl away from her family and in a strange city, for the first time in her life, experiences emotions she has never felt before, gets drawn to the guy inspite of all the warnings she gets from her well-meaning friend and against her better sense.

The guy realises the folly of playing with the emotions of an innocent blind girl, whom he has already fallen for and tries to pull back, but a bit too late.

She wants to spend her last day in the city with him, to make memories she can cherish all her life and she does exactly that throwing caution to the winds.

The inevitable happens, the chemistry which is building up reaches a crescendo and they make love. The next morning girl wakes up but instead of crying or regretting her decision, tries to put up a brave front asking the guy to take her to the station, assuring him that he had not promised anything. This if anything makes him feel worse.

At the station, where he comes to see her off, is one of the most powerful and touching moment of the movie. A moment where the conflicting desires are all too evident. Rehan(Aamir Khan) is standing on Zooni's(Kajol) duppata and she says now she can't leave, his face mirrors hope, which is shattered the instant she adds, until he steps off her duppatta, he drapes the duppatta over her shoulder, and the last rays of hope are wiped off her face, tears streaming down her face. The movie is worth a watch, if only for that powerpacked moment.

The things start moving faster from that moment. She boards the train and is crying after sharing everything with her friend when Rehan comes unexpectedly and takes her back, which is a mistake as he confesses later. She calls up her parents for their approval and nikaah proceedings. Rehan in turn takes her to a doctor for checkup who instantly arranges for an eye operation. By the time her parents come she can see but Rehan is nowhere to be seen, supposedly dead. Zooni is left with tears in her eyes and guilt in her heart because she had sent him to the Rashtrapati Bhavan, where a bomb blast had killed him.

Soon afterwards it is revealed to the viewers that he is indeed alive and a ruthless murderer, a terrorist who belongs to an organisation fighting for ''an azad Kashmir'' headed by his grandfather. A few years later Rehan is on an important mission, when fate throws him at Zooni's mercy, he ends up at her doorstep, badly injured and stranded in a storm. Here is meets Zooni's father, his own adorable son and Zooni, a woman he can't help falling in love all over again. All his emotions surface once more. What follows is a whole new inner conflict, a panorama of emotions, a series of events which shakes up all their old beliefs and brings the story a full circle, ultimately wrapping it up in the only way it was possible to.

If you still believe that the hero is a superhuman, above normal human wants and desires and the heroines are chaste and the height of morality and life is a fairy tale, atleast in movies, unfortunately this movie is not for you. But if you approve of the new wave of realism grapping the movies and believe in relating to human frailties of the characters, you simply can't miss this movie. All the performances are above par and do full justice to the characters being portrayed. The shero-shairi gives an old world charm to the first half of the story and builds momentum. There is hardly a dull or slow moment in the movie except maybe for a few of the songs, when you eagerly wait for the drama to unfold a bit further. In short it is an above average movie, narrating a complex story with a natural ease that converts it into a simple love story gone wrong.
