FANAA-the literal meaning as we have all got to interpret as ''destruction in love''.This gives you rather morbid images of suffering,blood,pain enough to almost make you cynical about the movie even before seeing it.
But this kind of a thinking would make one miss out on one of the best movies in recent times in the young blood,yoing love genre.
Set in the picturesque locale of Poland(depicted as Kashmir),this movie is a tale of two individuals in their right-Rehaan played by Aamir Khan,a vivacious,spunky tourist guide who is living a dual life of a harmless young man with a tourist guide as his profession and in real an integral part of a terrorist organization as a ''supporter of the autonomy and free will of the people of Kashmir''.
Zumi on the other hand played by Kajol; to perfection if I may add is a small town Kashmiri girl who is blind,a romantic to the core who finds love in the form of Rehaan's enchanting,disarming ways.
The two get married with promises of a bright future ahead till Rehaan's ''Mission'' obsession takes over,enough to abandon Zumi to her fate but with a difference.An operation which has enabled her to restore her eyesight back and sorrow in her heart as well for holding herself responsible for the supposed death of her husband.
POST INTERVAL:Aamir/Rehaan has joined the Indian Air force ,secretly carrying out his plans to seize the trigger to a nuclear bomb.Almost killed by the anti terrorism squad and limping his way to fing shelter for the night he lands up at Kajol's/Zumi's doorstep,ofcourse she is not able to recognize him as she has never seen him before.Though she has named her little boy Rehaan in the memory of his father.
When Rehaan(Aamir) reveals the truth to Kajol (avoiding the fact that he is a terrorist),they solemnise they wish to be together through a nikaah.
So far so good.But Rehaan's mission is to deliver the trigger to the mastermind of the terrorist organization and he is ready to destroy anyone coming in his path be it the IAF or Zumi's father.As the truth dawns on Kajol,she realizes its too,late and takes off with the trigger to give it to anti terrorism squad.
Here's where the tussel between Rehaan and Zumi begins-in the end she has to shoot him at long distance range in order to stop him from carrying out his disastrous plans...
In the end when she praying for his peace with her son and utters the goodwill message about choosing the better right between two rights and the lesser evils out of the two evils,you tend to leave the hall with a satisfied feeling..
