Fanaa-Disaster!. Review on Fanaa

Fanaa had it all. A great looking star cast, a huge budget and an interesting, plot inspired by Dil Se. But director Kunal Kohili throws it all away. At first you are saddened by the sterile drama that he has created out of a potentially dramatic scenario. Then you're filled with rage at the extravagant and sad waste of precious resources.

Fanaa leaves you with the dread of the dead. The characters aren't only dwarfed and diminished but finally defeated and destroyed by the director's dysfunctional equations between time and spac .Promising on paper, hollow in execution, Fanaa represents the worst, most damaging type of cinema in Bollywood .

Zooni Ali Beg (Kajol) who comes to Delhi with a bunch of friends to perform at the Rashtrapati Bhavan on the Republic day.

In Delhi, their tour guide is Rehan (Aamir Khan), a colourful, joyful, flirtatious young man with a poetic line or a couplet for every situation.

For Rehan, at least, it is love at first sight when he comes across Zooni. A bit of romantic shayari by Rehan elicits a few befitting couplets from Zooni also, and we know that seeds of love have been sown in both Zooni and Rehan’s hearts.

It’s sad how Kunal Kohili has managed to put together a decent cast and still manage to make such a mish-mash out of them.

Kunal Kohili makes sure that the rest of the technical crew too follows his standards — the sets are tacky, the cinematography is inconsistent, the music is unbearable and the dialogues are cornier than corn . The script is so tangled; we guess the writer was having a real bad day.As a viewer, you find it difficult to get yourself involved in the details and twists of the story. It is this detachment that begins to cultivate indifference and boredom in the viewing experience. If you don´t care about the characters, you cannot care for the next twist in the screenplay

Amir Khan is the biggest disappointment in this disaster. It is no secret that his hammy acting is the main downfall of this movie. His creepy sense of humour has every character in splits. Just what are they laughing at? Kajol has perhaps the meatiest role with her vulnerable character undergoing a range of emotions - from gleeful to helpless and she does it with elan .

On the whole, Fanaa cuts a sorry picture.
