If Hum Tum is one of your favourites, please don't watch Fanaa - you will only be disappointed

But if you loved the classic Zubeidaa, you will like Fanaa. Though not in the same class, Fanaa comes close to evoking almost the same level of emotional involvement(though not quite).

People are comparing the movie to Kunal Kohli's last venture, Hum Tum, which in my opinion was a childish, silly and sick attempt of copying the very sweetly done 'When Harry met Sally' and appealed to all bubblegum and candy-floss romance lovers, maybe the same ones who say thumbs up to the Star plus soaps. Even to compare Fanaa with hum tum is an atrocity and an insult to the emotion of love.

Anyway, this was just to let out my indignation at people's response to fanaa, which in my opinion is one of the better love stories to have come out in recent times.

Coming to the movie per se, contrary to what its supporters say, it's NOT a ''different'' story. yes, it's a different setting alright, but in the end, it's just a simple love story. Boy meets girl, they fall in love, and in the end, love conquers all ... well, almost all.

Chemistry of the two protagonists explodes from the very first scene that they are together, and carries on right till the end. There's no Aamir, no Kajol, only Rehan and Zooni... Kiron Kher is fantastic as ever.

One of the things that appealed to me, besides the superb performances of course, is that there was no faltu talk of patriotism or terrorism, or any pretence of this being an ''issue'' based movie. Directors seem to fall into that trap all too often (Dil se comes to mind), and I was expecting Kajol to anytime render a lecture on how the country is being ruined by such ''elements'', and aamir khan then defending his ''cause''.... but I was very very peasantly surprised to see that the movie stuck to what Yashraj films do best - regaling a love saga..... the man just happens to be a terrorist, the girl just happens to be blind, these are not the things to pay attention to... they are only there so that the emotions can get heightened... they are only a means, and not much to be thought of.

It's an out and out love story, not to be confused with any issues, PLEASE

Aamir Khan is the king of expressing emotions through his eyes and face , his trauma, his confusion, his frustration and inner struggle, without saying as much .. I am so glad SRK wasn't cast in his role, for if there is somebody who can ruin a good love story, it's SRK... for then we would not see Rehan, we would see Shahrukh... thankfully Aamir khan fades in the background while Rehan takes over.

Kajol is so , so pretty... She rules.

Kiron Kher rocks, I dont think there's any role she cannot play to perfection... She's fabulous.

The two things which I did not like in the movie ... one is undoubtedly the music, which is mediocre ... but for the title song, and the occassional ''Maula'' in the background, the music fails to score...

The second thing is the kid... I didn't like him, for all his golden locks and dimpled cheek.

Sweet movie... stayed with me.
