Fame Adlabs had all the makings of a mega business venture. Firstly, it is situated in an area where there are no theatres. Then, it is located near Lokhandwala where people will pay a high price for a good service. Inspite of this, Fame Adlabs has not generated any goodwill and has a few loyal customers.

The prime reason being that the ticket costs are very high. I saw 'Aankhen'(the first film to be screened in Fame) for Rs. 55/- on a Sunday afternoon. A few months later, I was shocked to shell out Rs. 180/- for a night show of 'Mujhse Dosti Karoge'. It seems, they change the rates depending on the day(weekday or weekend) and the time(afternoon, evening or night show). So you can catch the same film on a Monday afternoon for Rs. 55/- and on a Saturday night for Rs. 180/-. Utterly ridiculous. What's more, these rates were not even advertised until recently. The rates for 'Devdas' in black went as high as Rs. 800/-. Black marketeers have a big say at the ticket counter and I have seen them get bulk tickets out of turn.

There are five theatres in the multiplex which screen a variety of films. 'Aankhen' was screened in four of them whereas 'Devdas' was screened in two. The ticket counter is very unorganised. There is no board indicating Current or Advance booking. Booking for all five screens can be done at any counter. The person at the counter speaks into a microphone which can be heard by everybody and has a computer with him which is used to select the desired seats. The ticket is a roll of fax paper with the show timing printed on it.

The cafeteria is big and snacks are costly. The decor is good and the seats are comfortable. Parking space is not a problem, however getting into the theatre complex is a big headache as the roads outside are very badly maintained. The theatre is surrounded by a lot of industrial estates, hence coming back alone after a night show is a problem. Also, there are no food stalls or restaurants outside the theatre, so getting a soft drink or a bottle of water is a big problem.

I do not recommend the theatre for the following reasons:

  1. Ticket rates are very expensive.

  2. It is quite far from Andheri station.

  3. The snacks are over priced.

  4. Reaching the theatre is always a headache, since the road is always in a bad state.

  5. No restaurants located nearby.

  6. Black marketeers rule.
