Lying, incompetent staff and no customer service

I am writing to bring attention to the nightmare I have faced trying to get a defective product replaced by FabIndia. It has now taken nearly 2 months, and at every stage I have had to deal with lies and incompetence by FabIndia staff. Both store staff and web based customer service staff have shown complete lack of professionalism.


Here is what happened:




  1. On Feb. 7, I bought a blue silk kurta from FabIndia store in South City, Kolkata for around Rs. 1800




  2. The next day, I noticed that the kurta had a tear in the stitching - clearly a manufacturing defect.




  3. I brought it back to the store on Feb. 10, and they agreed to get the product replaced. They told me it might take 10-15 days for the replacement, and they would call me within a couple of weeks to confirm the status.




  4. I never heard back from the store. After more than a month and a half had passed, I called back the store a week ago on March 22, and filed a complaint via their online website  on the same day.




  5. When I called the store back(on March 22, after 45 days since my initial purchase), they told me it would take another 3-4 days to get the product.




  6. On March 23, the ticket I raised online was closed without any response or resolution by the online customer service team. No one from customer service even attempted to call me. This shows utter contempt and indifference to customer complaints.




  7. 3-4 days passed, and the store did not call me. Today, March 28(6 days after my last call), I spoke to the store again, and they are again asking for another 3-4 days. God knows what that means - I have no doubt they will again forget to call me.




  8. Just to recap: It has now been almost 2 months(58 days exactly) since I purchased a defective product from FabIndia store, and FabIndia has still not resolved the issue.




  9. At every stage, their store staff has lied to me about how long it will take to get the product replaced - initially saying 10-15 days, then a month, then they keep asking for more time each time I call. It is now total 58 days without resolution.




  10. Their customer support closed my ticket without any resolution and without even attempting to reach out to me about the issue.




  11. After 2 months, I have lost 1800 Rupees, I have no product in hand and I have had to spend hours trying to get a straight answer from their lying / incompetent store staff.
