The choice between kitchen chimneys stood out easily. It was largely dependent on what's available in the market. And the market means Electronic malls like -Croma, Vijay Sales and the smaller stores. And what was available largely was Glen, Sunflame and Faber. And out of these Faber seemed better given it's used more. But this I found out later is more because of it's availability. So it pushes a lot of dealer sales. What it doesn't do is support once it's sold. It's unfortunate because Faber might have fine products but customer service is pathetic. It has tied up with some shady 3rd party service company's and doesn't have any self owned service centres like Eureka Forbes does. Result is once sold you are left to fend for yourself. We have suffered a lot and I soon found out there were very similar stories from others too. I bought this chimney in Pune in Feb 2010 and have suffered zero service since. The chimney too developed weird cracks on the buttons to use it. The 3rd party service vendor never responded to calls once the installation was done. Nor did the Pune service centres.


We were left making 10-20 calls on different numbers and it gets very frustrating. The only place you might get a response was the Faber toll free nu, ber but that was centralised and their standard answer was wse will respond in 10 mins which they never did. It seems once passed to vendors they never answer these SOS calls. These service vendors respond only when they "make money". Means when they will charge you for installing or if you call Faber and say you want to get your Chimney serviced for which they will charge you Rs. 400-700. Other wise the warranty is useless. Funny part is the dealer doesn't have any warranty card to stamp when you buy something from Faber. it seems the company promises to send you a card later after installation. But its been about 2 months and I haven't received any yet. I have heard similar incidences about their cook tops.


So my suggestion is go for Kaff or Glen or anyone but Faber. Because you might require something to be fixed or adjusted the very next day or week or month after installation and then you can rest assured that unless you are paying there will be no response from Faber's pathetic customer service.
