I went to eZone Koramangala, Bangalore seeing an ad. in Time of India on 13-June-2009 to buy a 340L(WP-340 MT Dlx Steel) refrigerator which has a heavy discount with a free dinner set. However we were told that the model is out of stock. When I asked when it will be in stock, they told me that the offer is only for today and if I place the order, they will make a delivery in 5 days. So I went ahead and made the full payment. Interestingly the sales guy did not know that Dinner Set was free. So I had to show him the phamplet in their shop that the dinner set is part of the offer. He agreed. Then the billing guy took more than 20 minutes to make the bill as he was not able to figure out how to add the dinner set into his computer.
The bill(Receipt no; 2006007968) is dated 13/06/2009 and it says that the delivery date is 20/06/2009. Today is 22/06/2009 and I have been calling up(at 080-25520241) to find out the status. They kept telling me since morning that they would call me back in 30 minutes, which they never did. And every time you call them, you need to explain your problem and then they would forward the call to some other person and you have to explain to them again. By evening I call them again and this time they say that the stock is not available and they can only deliver by 25th June, which is 12 days since I made full payment.
One would expect that after paying more than 20 thousand in advance, there will be some sense of responsibility and ownership. They never even bothered to call me up when the due date expired. Its very bad customer experience when you have to wait for more than 12 days to get delivery of a fridge in Bangalore from such a leading electronic store.
In short, eZone broke a deal where they took 100% advance payment.
