MINDThe human Faculty to which thoughts, feelings and intention are ascribed. How would you define your life if you could discern the thoughts of another person? Well you could call yourself a mind – reader but is the talent of reading ones mind a gift or a curse? What happens when you can actually peep into ones innermost and sacred intent?

Everybody says I am fine is a story about Xen – the owner of an uptown unisex salon who has this eerie ability of discerning other people’s thoughts every time he connects with them like while chopping their hair. Xen uses this ability of his to solve his clients’ problems who though bogged down by problems pretend to be fine.

Among the regulars are Tania Ruia played by Pooja Batt, someone who is desperately trying to maintain her social status, Misha Patel who sells drugs to young boys to sponsor her own drug addiction, two youngsters who seem to have a crush one each other, Rage played by Rahul Bose, a struggling actor whose personality has eccentricity written all over him, a middle aged business tycoon who seems to have an affair with a young girl.

Life for Xen is the same where he tries helping his clients solve their problem until he meets a young girl whose mind is impenetrable, Xen even after chopping off most of her hair is unable to hear her thoughts. Why it is that Xen is unable to hear her thoughts, what is this girl’s problem? Well you will have to watch this movie to find her problem ;-)

“Everybody says I am fine” directed by Rahul Bose is one of those English Hindi movies. The movie talks about how we pretend to be fine even when we are trying to handle the worst crisis of our lives. The movie deals with a few social problems in a very subtle way with more reference to the women living in the top most stratum of our society, the kind of people who glide in luxury cars and greet others with a peck on their cheek only to backbite the moment the person disappears from their sight. The movie shows how this materially rich people can also be victims of drug addiction, incest and emotional abuse.

After watching Rahul Bose’s subdued performance in Mr. and Mrs. Iyer I was surprised to watch his brash and garish act. Reehan engineer, the protagonist of the movie is average as far as acting is concerned. The other actors have also done a good job. The Story does remind you of ‘What women want’ but this is a serious flick in comparison to the Hollywood’s romantic comedy

I enjoyed watching the movie but will recommend it only to those who look beyond the song and dance routine.

So next time you answer a 'How are you?' Think twice because the person asking you this question could be a mind - reader.
