I saw this movie long back because it was released long back, then why didn?t I write a review on it? Well, I think it?s foolish not to praise such a fine film, so here I amend my mistake.

Story

This movie almost went unnoticed except for a few urban denizens like us. The reason is very simple; this movie was not made for the masses. The concept was alien to the sensibilities of an average Indian. However liberal we may pronounce ourselves, the concept of teenage sex, freakish attitude, alternative career, discretionary promiscuity, incest, superiority complex etc, are selectively ignored by us, so there is no question of understanding them, but acceptance of all these concepts (unlike in many other pseudo liberal movies) was taken as guaranteed in the movie. The story relied on a supernatural power of a hair stylist to discover the truism of life in an inconsequential way. The story can definitely be classified as a black comedy.

Zen (Rehaan Engineer), an extremely cool and wise personality occupied completely by his vocation (can be called a loner) i.e. hair styling, possessed a super natural power of reading people?s mind through his scissors. And, he used that power to solve the complications in people?s life, including himself. He cured Tanya (Pooja Bhatt) of her superiority complex, garnered Rage?s (Rahul Bose) freakish attitude through submission, and freed Nikita (Koel Puri) of incest through his love, and in turn got rewarded himself by being freed of his loneliness & burdening supernatural power. Thus, the concept was quite simple, nurtured into an excellent presentation through intelligent direction.

However, there were few very interesting things in the movie which need a mention for their emotive significance, these includes the attraction of two teenagers and their adventures (surely will bring a smile on your face), ethical murder of a pervert father (couldn?t have been better), cat n mouse fight between high class socialites (and finally the deserving one won).

Acting

All of us know what a fine actor Rahul Bose is! And, so was he in ?Everybody?s Say I?m Fine? too (btw did I mention it was Rahul?s directorial venture?). However, now if I say he was worst of all in the movie, what would be your reaction? Well?.it?s true, other actors were even better. Rehaan Engineer played the role so comfortably as if the role was custom designed for him. Pooja Bhatt, who made a screen appearance after a long-long time, was exceptionally brilliant in her acting. I think she should not leave acting altogether. Boman Irani did look like a pervert father (I wish he was not a corporate honcho and something else in the movie). Koel Puri was as reluctantly submissive, as she was supposed to look, but at the same time brashly seductive. The other characters, i.e. Pooja Bhatt?s bete noire in the movie and the two kids, were also good. BTW?Rahul?s hair style was as freakish as was his character in the movie. I, without any doubt, give high grades to all the actors of the movie.

Music

The movie had a different kind of fusion music. The title score was excellently done, the lyrics were especially engrossing. All in all, the music brought a feeling of completeness in the movie without being obstructive. And, the fusion element very correctly reflected the true colors of the movie i.e. soothing western influence on Indian persona. The review by LICKWID on the same movie discusses the music excellently (otherwise also it?s an excellent review), do read it.

Movie overall

As I stated in the title, the movie is an exceptionally fine attempt at making a good movie. ?Everybody Says I?m Fine? is a must watch for purely entertainment purpose, and for a philosophical sojourn (if you like doing that).
