This review is to let the users know about two products of eureka forbes I bought. I went through the life cycle of the eureka forbes products i.e from sales to service(replacement of parts).

I am enough experienced to write a review on those products. Please read on.

PRODUCTS I BOUGHT :

  1. Aquaguard robot (cost - Rs 15, 000/-).

  2. Wet & Dry vaccum cleaner ( Rs 10, 000/-).

AQUAGUARD ROBOT :

I bought this product and got it installed on march 1 2008.The quality of water it produces good and can be consumed without any fear. But I felt the water it wastes is huge (eureka forbes claim any RO process wastes the water).

To give you statistics if it processes 1 litre of water, only 250 ml of water can be used.Other 750ml of water is gone waste except you use it for cleaning vessels and watering the plants.I am not sure how many of us are really eco responsible.

Another catch is that Aquaguard RO is calibrated for 6000ltrs.This means a light will beep after it reaches 6000ltr limit(may be after an year) which indicates we may have to change filters and membrane(requires change if we feel the taste is changed). Here is the whole set(two filers+two carbons+one membrane) costs you about Rs3865/-.This is recurring cost to maintain this unit.

So assume a family of four uses 20ltr a day, we may have to change filters and membrane after 300 days. So by benefit of doubt we have to change every year.I have not included the power cost for this unit. Now compare this with buying can water. In chennai A 20ltr can costs Rs 20/-.If a family of four requires a can for two days.So (365/2)*20 = Rs 3650/-.So this isslightly less than that RO unit maintenance. The initial cost of the machine(Rs 15, 000/-) is never recovered. Above all we have the following

pros and cons with can water.

a. No power

b. Can be placed anywhere in the house(RO needs a tap connection hence

maximum it has to be in the kitchen).

c. Service of aquaguard is the worst of its kind and those guys will never

turn up unless you make frantic calls.

d. When you change home either intra city or inter city, This needs to

be installed by service people of eureka forbes only.

e. The service of eureka forbes is outsourced hence little accounatability

and ownership lies with eureka forbes though this seemed to be maintained

within eureka forbes.

MY EXPERINCE :

I changed the filetrs and membrane after an year for the cost of Rs 3865/-. But I am using can water also. Now I am more careful is RO usage.I switch off the RO after it fills its tank. This is to reduce the water wastage because if we keep the unit on, RO flushes the existing water also in the tank after some time. I contain the waste water in a vessel and use it for vessel cleaning and other purposes. So I assume this way I can enhance the life of membrane and filters eureka forbes people can correct me I am wrong).Above all I am not sure if I maintain this unit ever like this.

RECOMMENDATION :

My recommendation is that this is white elephant and we can easily do with can water.Eureka forbes may argue that their quality is superior but heat the can water and drink if you are worried.

Brand Response

Dear Mr. Basu,
Thank you for the feedback on the Aquaguard Total Robot. We are Happy to
note that you are using the product. I would like to just draw your
attention to the fact that in your costing you have considered 20 litre /
day consumption of water for calculating the cost of water from water
purifiers and only 10 litre per day, when calculating the cost of canned
water. If you consider 20 litre per day for cans also, the cost of procuring
canned water comes to Rs. 7300/- which is twice the cost compared to the
cost of water from Water Purifier. Please rest assured that your Aquaguard
Total Robot provides absolutely pure safe drinking water in your home and is
not expensive compared to canned water. We really appreciate your trust in
us and thank you for being part of the Eureka Forbes family.
Should you require any further assistance please do let me know.
Regards,
Siddhartha Singh
