I believe Eureka Forbes makes good products. Unfortunately, this is adversely marred by their service division. a bunch of frigtards who have no inkling about the product they're sent to install/service.
Our water supply's rather muddy in the monsoons and smells of chlorine, adversely affecting the health of my daughter. Therefore, I decided to invest in a water purifier, and after scrounging around a bit for market reviews, settled on the Forbes Crystal. As far as the product is concerned, it lives up to its hype - the literature emphasizes "crystal clear water" and the outflow is indeed clear, free from suspended impurities & chlorine.
Relating to the service however, the installation was done by a moron who showed up after 4 days and repeated calls to the service center. This idiot in question had never installed a similar model before(apparently the Aquaguard & Forbes products have separate service personnel). On the first run itself, tiny black suspended particles were noticed in the outflow. At first he tried to pass it off as bubbles, but draining the water through a litmus filter made him backtrack on his comment. A call to the service center revealed that the candles & carbon filter need to be thoroughly washed before first use. and the technician didn't know such a basic fact?
Next, he tried to open the unit and remove the candle. A resounding'crack' followed. Not allowing us to look inside the unit, he promptly carted it off to the service center stating that the unit(and we're talking about a brand new unit here) required servicing. Later in the day it was returned by another bloke who tried to pass-off the teflon adhesive inside as'original'. Unfortunately for him, a slight drip ensued from the unit when connected despite the adhesive.
By now, I had reached the end of my patience, and I directed him to replace the entire unit, considering that it was their service technician's ignorance that caused the crack in the first place, and that I would not accept a unit that had been serviced right out of the box, not to mention one that had a persistent drip despite the same. To which he countered that the best they could do was replace the candle & filter, but as these were(conveniently) out of stock, I would have to wait it out for a week.
To hell with that, I called up the dealer(M/s. Talauliker Electricals, Panaji Goa) and narrated the entire episode. Agreeing that I should not accept the unit as is, he offered a next-day replacement and had his own technician set it up.
Guess all's well that ends well, but I'm having second thoughts on my purchase now. Should I entrust the unit again to these same morons for it's periodic cleansing?
