How does it compare to other products in its category?
We were primarily interested in a direct flow filter with UV function and micron Carbon filter. The Crystal does not come with a reverse osmosis function. The technical specifications online for filters in this category are very similar to each other making it hard for buyers to differentiate between them. We decided to go with Crystal, as it was recommended by the retailer and friends.
Purchase.
We bought the product at Croma and since it was out of stock, the delivery was scheduled for the next day. The product comes with one year manufacturer warranty. I also purchased the additional two years manufacturer warranty.
Difference between Aquaguard.
I had also sent a request for assistance with the Eureka Forbes website a day before I made the purchase. A dealer did call me and he explained that Aquaguard and Aquasure are from the same company, and Aquaguard is sold exclusively by dealers.
What I found odd is that he suggested I should return the product (I had just purchased) back to the retailer as the product and service for Aquaguard was superior. I decided not to do so as I believe if the company is backing up both product lines, this shouldn't be a problem.
Installation
The installation was completed within a day of the delivery (total 2 days from purchase). We had someone come over from the Eureka Forbes service center and install it. Total time taken to complete installation was about 45 mins.
The technician explained how the product worked and showed us how to manually trigger the flush function (to be done once in a month). The manual flush is really a set of buttons you have to press that puts the filter in 'flush' mode.
After installation, we cleaned up the mess left behind by the technician.
We drained about two buckets of water from the filter. However, the water still tasted unnatural. I've read online that this does happen for the first couple of days.
Ease of use
The button combinations need to be learned.
Hope this helps!
