US-CHI-AUD-MAA(2 way) My horror with Etihad started right from Chicago where they have kept 2-3 people close to passenger to watch their hand luggage. I had already paid 150$ for overweight for connecting to Chicago on my way to India.
But Etihad kept askign for another 150$ to check in my hand luggage. When I had told them about united already had charged, they refuse to listen. And the manager came in acting as a messiah who can save us. He asked us to Pay 50$ instead of 150$ and made us think he was doing us a favour. But in realty it is 50$ to check your hand luggage.
And the cabin service in horrible on way to Abu Dhabi. I dont know if they were treating this way since most of the folks were from Pakistan. And while coming back again the same thing. I had checked in 2 bags and my hand luggage was overweight by 2 kgs. They said if I remove those 2 kgs, they would check in for free. So I did that. I got my boarding pass and I said Bye to my folks and when I was in immigration, Etihad called me again and asked me to pay for 50$ for my laptop bag that I was carrying. They threatned to cancel my boarding pass and stop my immigration.
After talking to them in van, I agree to pay the money, I handed Amex and they would not accept. I gave them visa and they dont have machine. They were trying to call Bank at 3 in the morning to get the auth code. They said the card is not going thru and htey need cash.
They asked me to call my folks to get money. Finally I called them thru their cell phone and got cash where I had to pay 3 Rs extra per dollar than the conversion rate. I was exhausted to death since it was 4 AM now and with no sleep. Again the cabin service as usual is so rotten.
I dont know if I have any words to describe my feeling. PLEASE. PLEASE do not fly with this airline unless u r so desperate and have absolute no care about your dignity and have no bags to check in.
