I've read all of Jean Sasson's books but this one is the best for me. Perhaps it is because it is so timely after 9/11 as this book is the first one that truly opens a window of understanding as to why the entire world is affected by a small country with a tiny population.
The characters seem real and I cared very much about what happened to them. I fell in love with Demetrius Antoun and wish that he were not a fictional character. If he were not, I'd fly to Lebanon or Israel or wherever he ends and try to find him!
I don't want to make light of a serious book just because the characters came to life in such an absorbing manner. I thought Jean Sasson did a wonderful job with non-fiction with her PRINCESS TRILOGY, but she soars with fiction.
If you are looking for a book that entertains while it educates, then this is a book for you.
I'm going to give this book to everyone I know come Christmas. They'll love me for it unless they are ignorant!
