Can give the matrix a run for its money. Review on Equilibrium Movie

It’s unfortunate that this movie came and went and never didget much notice, the actor is one of the leading action heroes today ChristianBale, the same guy who plays the new batman. What happened? I don't know, whythis movie was not as publicised as all other major blockbuster movies like thematrix, xmen is a complete mystery because to be absolutely honest, it deservesto be mentioned in the same breath as them. The story revolves around postthird world war times, man has been forced to take a drug to make him devoid ofall emotions, and the city that forces them to do so is called Libria. I don'twant to divulge the plot because it will spoil your fun. The movie is clearlyand out and out action movie, there are elements of the matrix in it, like theconcept of an external force controlling all mankind, a well defined castesystem etc. But the best part about the movie is not the plot not by a farreach, its the amazing action sequences that Christian Bale and director KurtWimmer have executed. Kurt got it horribly wrong with Ultraviolet butEquilibrium his best work yet ironically went largely unnoticed. Its ironicbecause if properly marketed it could have given The Matrix a run for itsmoney.

The action is just simply breathtaking and you actually might need a slowmotion option to view some of it. John Preston is what Christian Bale portraysin the movie. Preston is a Grammaton Cleric, the highestrank of law enforcement set to eliminate all sense offenders (basically peoplewho refuse to take the feeling control drug). The movie starts with an awesomeactions sequence and the burning of the Mona Lisa. The movie is perhaps myfavourite also for it has Sean Bean (portraying another grammaton cleric)recite Yeats. Getting back to the best part of the movie the action. The actionsequences are brilliantly choreographed and especially the scenes where Preston(Bale) executes the fictional martial art gunkata. The movie has been cleverlythought out to make it look really believable. Taye Diggs also features in themovie as the wanna be top grammaton cleric. If you liked the matrix and wishedto see something in the same lines, then this movie is a must have, from theamazing actions sequences to the awesome custom guns that actually let outnozzle fire in the shape of a cross, the action is just amazing.

Watch this movie when you get the chance, it has been on television once ortwice already and I make sure I watch it when I can. As always no revealing the plot, although frankly the action is what makes this one worth its weight in gold.
