I have a strange aversion to the word ‘epic’. This is because it sounds quite stupid coming out of the mouths of people when said in conjunction with things like ‘walk in the park’ or ‘conversation’. The whole point of an epic is the over-all epic-ness of it. A conversation is never epic, The Ramayana is.

Whales are epic too, but we aren’t going to discuss that today. The purpose of this article is to weigh the pros and cons of the Epic Browser. The browser has been designed for Indians, says the website. This might as well be the case, since they have installed a very nice side-bar with buttons that can do almost everything. They CANNOT, however, hook you up with this:

(THEREFORE THIS BROWSER IS REDUNDANT)

But seriously, the side-bar is very convenient and is a lot of help since it has buttons for mostly everything a user needs. There is no wikipedia button, which is kind of sucky, but it can be appended by adding an ‘Epic App’ to the side-bar. The browser is also compatible with a large number of Firefox add-ons, which is a pretty awesome thing. Which means that the browser is:

(Only, in a very browser kind of way)

The browser also a stuff like a stop-watch timer thing and an alarm setting. It has job search engines, based on location. It also has travel and booking engines. You can quickly access your computer, and browse files using a handy side-bar button, it has an in built word processor with quite MS-Word like features and it can save particular pieces of text or images from whatever page you are on. The website also claims that it has a built in anti-virus(WHICH IS TOTALLY FREE). I haven’t tried it out yet because it means downloading some thing(NOT SPYWARE, probably the anti-virus software itself) and I do not want to download anything. But, the one feature that makes it more than awesome, is:

YOU CAN DIRECTLY TYPE STUFF AND TURN IT INTO HINDI OR ANY OTHER LANGUAGE OF YOUR CHOICE

Which, basically means that you can curse people/things that you hate in your native tongue effectively and without any confusion. It also means you can use those intensely creative swear-words which are language specific instead of substitutes like ‘fark’ and ’shoot’.

My over-all verdict is that the browser is good, but it needs to polish up on the way it looks and feels. Also, some of the apps are incomplete and/or not really working quite right. That should be addressed. As far as speed and stability goes, the browser has both. It is also quite light. Definitely worth the download.
