Ok im here to do a review of an indian performance bike called the Enfield Zundapp Fury or the Enfield Fury 175 /Fury GPX . its not the same bike that we have in the picture here on MS. The Enfield Fury was a 175cc 2 stroke motorcycle that was built by Zundapp of East Germany and sold by Enfield in India.
It was the first motorcycle in India with Disc brakes and Mag wheels . The engine of the Fury was a rubber mounted one. This bike went out of production ( around the mid 80's) , even before the RD350 went out of production and it is a very rare and exotic bike . I have seen 5 in my entire life and only 2 of them were runnning . The bike put out 18bhp on paper. It was a top endy bike and would scream once you got it into the powerband and just charge ahead pulling you along with it ... a typical 2 stroke. The only faster bike than the fury was and still is the RD350 and maybe the bullet 500 .The bike was a preety good looker .
There were 2 versions of the Fury sold in India , one was the GP version , (which was a later version and was more powerful) and the older , normal 18 bhp version . Parts for this bike are very very rare , even rarer than RD350 parts . The bike looked like a Bigger version of the Enfield Explorer in some ways , but dont even start to compare the Explorer with the Fury. One was a commuter and another was a performance oriented bike .
The Fury had a 5 speed gear box but its gearbox had problems and was very notchy. Its mag wheels and disc brakes are in great demand specially from RD350 owners for their bikes . It is very saddening to see a bike like this get cannabalised and die away but I guess thats the way it is with machines. I have never ridden one , but im sure that there are guys here that must have ridden or owned this machine and can write a good review about this bike . From what ive heard from former Fury owners is that the bike's power dilevery was very raw and it would suddenly jump up and bite you , meaning it would suddenly get into the powerband and start pulling wildly when you dint expect the bike to do that . It dufunately needed those Disc Brakes . Many people died on the Fury and it had good power in the top end and sounded very sweet in the powerband .
If anybody has ever owned this bike or ridden one for a long period of time please do write a review on them . Demand for the Fury is non existant as parts are not available . Period . Have to say this bike was preety expensive when it was being sold in the showrooms by enfiled ( maybe cas it was completely imported frm E-germany ?) and it was their only shot at performance biking till date. Its mags and brakes were the best in the business till the Karizma came along , forget the Pulsars. lol .
what I wrote in this review is what ive gathered frm people who have owned Fury's or ridden them quite alot , even though I havnt owned or even riden this bike, because I wanted people to come to know about the Enfield Fury , since many people havnt even heard about this great bike. It is one of the great performance bikes of India and I would like some guys to write better reviews than I have written about it. I am a big fan of this bike.
The bike looked something like this althought this is the liquid cooled version , what we had in india was the air cooled version . This is the Zundapp KS175 ( a liquid cooled version of the Fury) https://kjtools.se/zundapp/pribild/175NV-04.jpg
