http://www.enchantedlearning.com is the best site I have ever come across.
Since my daughter is in pre-nursery, I have always surfed many children?s sites to see which suited her the most. But most of them have been completely unsatisfactory. I'm not complaining that the content was not up to the mark, but it really did not cater to the needs of PRE-SCHOOLERS.
We can support the site by paying 20$ per year but that?s optional. We can still access the information without becoming its members.
Kids of this age( i.e 2-4yrs) are very extremely shy, vulnerable, sensitive and have tremendous potential to grasp new things that are offered to them. They must be really delicately handled and therefore it is necessary to use their sense-motor skills.
The best way to bring about hand-eye coordination is to include plenty of ACTIVITY based education.
Enchanted learning primarily caters to the teaching methods adopted in the WEST.
It focuses on using puppets for teaching various things The material used is normally found at home like old papers, carton boxes, colors etc. It covers a range of topics right from making of puppets till the lyrics of the rhymes. It has site-index that includes from Anatomy, Astronomy, Birds, Butterflies, Dinosaurs, Dictionary,Geography, Nursery Rhymes, Plants, Rainforests, Themes, Volcanoes etc.
The instructions on How-to-do-things are very simple, accompanied by a clear illustration. It leaves no room for confusion.
I have started making craft items for my kid by following them. It can really enrich the child?s imagination as they can wear the Muppets as gloves in their hands. Also the story telling session becomes extremely easy. It has puzzles, quiz, counting activities.
It also allows in taking a print out of the pictures for coloring. This is just what is needed for tiny tots.
This site is not the interactive kind where the kids have to do some exercises on the computer, as they are too young.
But it makes parents aware of spending QUALITATIVE time with their children.
This way of teaching is similar to what is shown in POGO T.V. ?s Hi-5.
I would recommend it to all the parents and also to Montessori teachers to visit this site and implement it for teaching the tiny ones.
