"Attention Commander! Serial kisser on the loose. The suspect is using bollywood movies for his serial kissings. Get hold of the suspect and arrest him. Over and out." I am eagerly waiting for this message to flash through Interpol and C.I.D. for the capture of none other than Emraan Hashmi.
After Mahesh Bhatt decided to launch his nephew in Footpath, Emraan realised that he could market himself and become the male version of Mallika Sherawat. After they both shot to fame as sex symbols (sheesh!), they had a fall out. In hindsight, the fallout was inevitable.
They were both daring enough to bare all on screen and relied on the same class of audiences to make their films a hit. Opposites attract, but like poles repel. This was what happened with mallika and Emraan. After doing lewd scenes in Murder together, Mallika claimed credit for making the film a hit. This remark pissed Emraan off and they both have never worked again. Thank God for small mercies!
So after a bout of run-of-the-mill and inconsequential movies, Emraan is still kissing away to glory on the screen. Whether it was Dia Mirza or Udita Goswami or some other heroine, he did not care. He wanted to become Bollywood's pin-up boy but has been largely unsuccessful and has become more of a sleaze instead. He was addicted to kissing heroines the way a drug addict is addicted to doing heroin (heroine?heroin?confusing!). But to give credit where its due, Emraan ushered in a new age thriller genre with Aksarand Gangster. Whether or not anyone liked these films is another matter. While Anurag Basu's direction saved Gangster, Aksar bombed at the box office.
As far as acting abilities go, he is as good as a monkey. This is my view, I dont mind writing about it. :-). With poker faced expressions and an attitude-filled smile, he hoped to conquer bollywood. The only thing he conquered is the censor board- who are surprisingly lenient on his indecent acts on the Big Screen.
I caught a bit of Zeher (it actually was poison) on TV and I thought that even I could have done the role. The acting part that is, not the lewd part. As far as youth icons go, John Abraham and Abhishek Bachchan are far better. Emraan is just a kissing machine who's testosterone is abnormal.
