Subject: My Experience with Emirates-(Attempt to each SVP Customer Affairs& Service Audit)-Thanks!

Greetings All,

Let me introduce myself, I am Vinu and am proud to be a globe traveling Indian employed with the  prestigious TATA group and I am back home in Kerala-India for 7 day personal/official trip of mine.  I have traveled home to take care of my father who is sick and this journey was on a quick plan. My wife and kid decided to travel with me and TATA's gave us a ticket for all of us on good will.

I applied for the tickets day before and was offered a 3 options-one the usual route LHR-MUM-COK on JET, another BA one straight from LHR- BLR and a connection to COK and third one being LGW-DXB-COK with emirates. I live at Brighton (59 Kingsmere, London Road, BN1 6UX, County of Sussex, United Kingdom Phone: 01273 248506) and work across the south east coast with Gatwick about 20 minutes drive from home. A quick 5 min thought made me go for the third option i.e. flying with Emirates. Apologies for the long trail-but it was to give a quick update about how it all started-I wont take much time shall bullet out and tell you what I have observed with 'THE EMIRATES'.

We drove to LGW and we started with a 1 hr queue at North Terminal for the checkin process- We have traveled to different parts of the world from Gatwick and to point out 1 hr was the total time we spend while checking in for traveling to other 5 locations that we have traveled before.

We boarded the 1:40 flight from London Gatwick to DXB on 29th of March and we were so impressed with the aircraft and the uniform of the staff and the internal ambience. We found ourselves comfortable on seats 24 windows and the flight took off. I went to short nap for some time and that came to an abrupt end when I saw MEERA my 6 year old into tears. She started complaining that she had requested for some dolls/play stuff and was not offered the same. I told her not to worry and request again for a possibility-and then she was given one dull doll ( I am sure she would have be a bit better by receiving it)-but she pointed that it was not as good as the ones those were served to the co-passengers around of the same age. Although I knew it was a dull one-I did try to convince her that it looked great and asked her not to worry too much about the same.

Actually, we were served by a lady who was extremely beautiful- and she was quite firm on the way she started explaining when we asked her some advises.

While applying for the tickets I had done specific mention about Indian/Asian Veg-although being in UK for a while-we could always work with alternatives.I asked the lady-if I would be served Asian food-then she quizzed me if I had booked for the same and explicitly told me that What I Ask Is What I Get. I had requested her about the kid's meal and again she told me the same answer-I said fine, thank you. She went back and came back with a tray marked Asian Veg and asked the lady sitting behind me (she is my good Arabian friend from Manor Park) if she had applied for AV-to which she said NO)-I was sure that it was me who had placed this request and hinted her about the same again-so I had my meal with me. The same process repeated for kid's meal and with in 15 minutes MEERA also got hers. So we were happily enjoying our food after the so called dilemmas.

When it was an hour to reach DXB I saw my wife Anupama requesting for help with a bell- and 20 mins nothing happened-I asked her why the bell lights are still on-she said ears are having some problem-so she wanted to request for ear buds-Nothing happened no body turned back and a few minutes after I heard a sigh from 6 year old MEERA-'JET was much better-Dad-I told you we would fly by JET'. I was shocked –MEERA was she telling that in sleep or what?

Anupama started telling that our lady friend had seen the bell-but she went back to her seat and started chatting with the gentlemen sitting opposite to her and we could hear it was all about Dubai-Everything about it!

So toward the end of taxi time I saw her walking towards 24 window seats and I thought this time we would get ear buds-but she came and told me to open the window panel-which I had closed due to sun light. I opened it. Then she commanded –or was it really a request-couldn't make out-open the one in your back as well.- I was trying to remember it was really my Arabian friends window or what?- any ways I did that as well. MEERA and ANU started telling me-Was she not rude to you? I told may be –but I wont mind-I am an Indian and I would forgive. So while boarding out-I walked in front of her-was expecting a thank you at least so that I could thank her as well. But it was silence-dead silence-so heads down I walked out and came to the flight exit-where I found a friendly staff and asked for a feedback form. She asked if there was any particular reason.- I told her nothing much-but I had some feedback to give. That form addressing Senor Vice president and Customer Audit is with me and I shall post it to him with a print out this email as well.
