I hear people recommend Emirates Airlines albeit no specifics but just that it's "nice". I've always been a big fan of Singapore Airlines and was quite excited to experience flying with Emirates. Boy, did I regret it! Perhaps First Class would be a different story. I seriously DO NOT recommend Economy in Emirates. I had it bad BOTH ways.

Check-in:

-I don't know why we bothered checking in online when we were told to wait in line to check in our baggage. Then to our horror, we were assigned different seats on our boarding passes.

On board experience:

-The welcome greeting didn't feel or sound warm; more like robots programmed to say "Good Morning"

-Female crew A simply shoved the omelettes infront of us without explaining that her cart ran out of the other option; no explanation, no sympathy, no "Sorry"

-Female Crew B would not budge with the cart to allow passengers through to seats/toilets

-Female Crew A told passenger infront of me that she couldn't attend to his request for a drink as she claimed "We are landing, I have to take my seat!' However, I timed her from the moment she uttered those words to the moment I heard the pilot told the crew to take their seats: 9 mins 35 secs! Galley was just behind us, by the way.

*Observations:

-None of the crew addressed passengers by Sir or Madam. So I guess expecting them to know my husband is a Skywards member would be asking too much. Emirates should learn from SIA here: The SIA crew extract info from the passenegr infomation sheet and locate the PPS(Priority Passengers) even in EYCL and address them by names.

-Forget about them saying "Please"

-Drinks weren't offered; you had o ask or you don't get any.

On board experience

-Same "forced" smiles from the crew

-During transit in KUL, Female Crew C asked for our headsets but we told her we're going on to DXB. Guess what she said?(This is a classic!) She sounded surprised, "This flight is going to Dubai?" My goodness! Talk about incompetence. Wonder how she'd perform during an emergency?!

-Meal time and Female Crew D told us she didn't have the Nasi Lemak dish and only had omelette. She did not bother to find out if her colleague on the opposite aisle might have it. Indeed, I had to ask for myself and low and behold, colleague's cart had many Nasi Lemak

-Purser supposedly came down to EYCL to assist and offered us tea. However, about 3 drops came out of the pot when he poured and his response was a giggle.

*Observations

*-The crew did not reverse meal service directions to ensure not the same passengers get served later and ran the chance of not getting meal of choice(which was what happened to us)

-Bread rolls were cold and so hard you can kill someone by throwing it at him

*Summary

Truly it's the attitude of the crew that was disappointing. I really feel that Emirates is growing too fast and recruiting on too large a scale that the quality of crew chosen is compromised.
