Just after Thanksgiving last year, our microwave bit the big one. It died. The glass on the outside cracked, and finally, a piece fell out. It was time for a new one. So, down to Wal-Mart I went. For those of you that don't know, Wal-Mart is a department store in the United States. A lot of the prices are lower than some of its competitors. Anyway, back to the microwave. I perused the shelves to compare interior size, as well as wattage, and price.
I finally settled on a 1.0 Cubic foot 1000 watt microwave oven by Emerson. It is a white colored one, with a digital display, 10 power levels, and 8 preprogrammed buttons. The preprogrammed buttons are popcorn, muffin, dinner plate, soup, frozen pizza, fresh vegetable, beverage, and baked potato. The preprogrammed buttons seem to work well. Popcorn is always just about right. There is another button also. It is for a fast zap. It is called Quick Cook, and will start the microwave for about 30 seconds. This is useful, if something is just starting to get cold, but is otherwise reasonably warm. A quick zap and its warm again. This one had a promo with it also - a set of microwavable dishes. They were a bonus, but were not made well. The lids did not snap into place after just one time in the microwave. All in all, this microwave has worked well for us. Just don't use the dishes.
