Eleven Minutes is a book that touches one’s soul and leaves its readers with new found spirituality at the end of the book.The book embarks the journey of Maria- a beautiful Brazilian girl went to Europe to work as an exotic dancer, but ended being a sex worker. An expensive one, "working" in a luxurious bar in Geneva. Maria's goal is to earn enough money to buy a farm in Brazil for her and her parents and leave Switzerland in a year. "Eleven minutes" is her story.
I not only believe that it one of Coelho’s best but also that it is perhaps one of the best novel I have ever read. I have read the book several times and each and every time I have had something new to take from it. Among the many ideas that I gained from this book, the most poignant of them all was the realization that one must lose oneself completely in order to be found.He adopts an almost fable like approach to tell a story about love and passion. I like paulo coelho's style of writing too. But in the book there is certain unnecessary details or kind of a long lecture which actually bore you but nevertheless it's a good book to digest.
By the end of book it does create a curiosity in your mind but leave you smiling as you complete the whole story. Certain scenes are really intimate and does grab your attention and increases your curiosity more. "Eleven Minutes" is a very interesting story that keep making you read it further and further. I think after "Alchemist" this is another great work of Paulo. Go grab this book in your nearest book store.
