I recently requested for an add-on Platinum credit card from ICICI Bank. It came to my house in 5-6 days.Problem is, the delivery guy Mr. Rajkumar came to my house at 2 PM on Wednesday and said he wouldn't give it to anyone other than me! Now, I stay with my friends(all working) in a rented house. I asked him to give it to the landlady, but he refused. I asked him to deliver it to my office address, but again he refused. So I asked him when he'll come next. He said he'll come the next morning(Thursday) by 11.30 AM. So I thought I'll wait for him the next day.
Next morning at 11 AM he calls me and says the courier has gone back to the head office! He gave me one Mr. Arun's number and asked me to tell him to send it back to the area office where Mr. Rajkumar works, so he can deliver it. Now I call Mr. Arun and get through after umpteen attempts(number's always busy) and he tells me he can have it delivered to my office address(now you tell me!). I thought fine, let me leave for office then, it'll be delivered there. Now, I reach office and get a call from another executive saying they cannot deliver it to my office because that address is not on the envelope! Hello! Do you teach different rules to different employees?
So I told him I was waiting at home in the morning till nearly 12 noon, why couldn't they make up their mind earlier? He says - get this - why did I give my home address when I was going to be in office on the day of delivery? As if I knew it was coming on a weekday! And the tone was very rude. I got really pissed off and said firstly it's my prerogative to decide where I want the documents to be delivered, and secondly, it's not only the card that'll come there, it's also the statements, etc. I don't want my statements coming to my office. He had no answer to that, just repeated that he can't deliver to my office. So I said if you can deliver it to my office today then it's fine or else send the card back to ICICI Bank and I'll tell them that I no longer want it. He said he'll get back to me.
Let's see now.
Update: I called them again and told them to deliver it to my home address only, after my office hours. The guy gave me the local area office's mobile number. I called there and one guy who knew only Kannada(luckily I know a bit of it by now) picked up the phone and said everyone's gone out for lunch, call after 4 PM! Great going.
So I call again after 4 PM and the right guy picks up and he says he'll be there by 6 PM or so. I said fine and left from office early to be home to receive these VIPs! Finally they came at around the right time and I got my valuable ICICI add-on credit card!
Message for ICICI: Guys, please don't use couriers like these with poor manners. I have another credit card from HSBC, and a similar issue occured once with them(card arrived on a weekday at my home when I was in office). But that guy wasn't so rigid agreed to deliver the card to my office address.
