I was very exited that a horror movie is coming from the banner of Vishal Baradhwaj and Ekta Kapoor which includes a wonderful cast of Emraan and Konkana Sen and these dragged me to see what a Daayan can do and here is my review.
STORY & PLOT: the basic plot of this story is very good giving a new fragrance to the Bollywood horror genre and in a nut shell is that how Bobo played by Emraan saves his mind and his family from a haunting daayan and more than this I am not going to reveal the plot as it is the life of a horror movie
CAST&PERFORMANCES: The cast and performances in this movie are very good as the cast included very talented artists and especially the performances of Emraan and Konkana sen are really good . The other artists like Kalki and Huma Qureshi have also did their parts quite well. And not to forget about the child artists who played brother and sister in the flashback episode are really gems for their age
TECHNICAL DEPARTMENTS: story and Direction department had effectively penned down the flashback episode and the first half of the movie which gave a new perspective to the Indian horror genre but the second half rapidly descended to the normal stereotypical Indian horror and especially the climax which is a biggest joke.
Music is not so effective except for one or two songs but the background score is well made perfectly fit to a horror movie. There is nothing much to talk about the other departments.
ANALYSIS: this movie gives a hope to the horror movie lovers because of its new perspective but again they will fell the stereotyping in the latter half. First half is really good and sure to send chills down your spine but second half will mask off all the shivers given in the first half. IF THE PRECLIMAX AND CLIMAX WERE AS GOOD AS THE FIRST HALF THEN THIS MOVIE WOULD HAVE BEEN A MILE STONE IN INDIAN HORROR MOVIES.
