Serendipity..........

That is what I thought after watching this movie.......

Reason is simple...

I went to the theatre for a different movie...did not get the tickets for that movie...then frustration provokes me and my friends to go for any damn movie......I buy tickets for ''Ek Haseena Thi''.Three hours later....................I started thinking of the word ''Serendipity''...

''Ek haseena thi'' renews the faith on a very good combination.....which though being fantastic did not have an equally superb movie to boast about.Yes,I am talking about Ram Gopal Verma and Urmila Matondkar.

Plot

The movie revolves around a girl Sarika(Urmila) who works in a Travel Agency and comes across a guy called Karan(Saif).Karan after realising that Sarika stays alone, thinks about making use of the girl.Sarika despite being apprehensive in the beginning falls into the trap set by Karan.Credit must go to the way Karan woos Sarika.Anybody would have fallen into it if real world is considered. Then Sarika as girls are known to be in real love, dedicates everything she has to give Karan!

Later on her ordeal starts when she comes to know about a Karan's friend who gets killed in an police encounter.By the time she realises her mistake she is already involved in a dreadful struggle.....starting with a life in jail................then fortune strikes in the form of a new character Pramila(Pratima Kazmi......do not know her.....remember Khabri in Itihaas...well forget it) who is a gangster operating from jail keeping her safety in mind......Sarika arouses some sympathy in Pramila and she in return starts helping her out......

1.How Pramila helps out Sarika?

2.Does Sarika ever come out of the prison?

3.What happens to Karan?

  1. Does Sarika think about revenge.....if yes...how does she avenge it?................Seen ''Bone Collector''.............;-)

To find out the answers to all these questions...go ahead and watch this movie....Enough on plot..........I do not want to kill your curiousity ;-)

And yes do not wait for your cable operator to play out this movie for you.......the real fun is in watching this film on big screen and with good sound...........

Performance

Urmila Matondkar

She is scintillating.A combination of Urmila in ''Pyaar tune kya kiya'' and in ''Kaun''.Her acting has been superb and I do not think any other actress could have surpassed her in emulating the character she was playing in the movie. Her expressions were natural and one would start feeling for her.A definite plus to this movie.

Saif Ali Khan

What can be said about him? From ''Dil Chahta Hain'' to this movie.....he has always been an actor to reckon......after seeing him for a lot of movies playing second fiddle...he comes out with an absolute beauty as Karan.Never once till intermission does he lets you know, what is he up to? Unbelievable.A definite plus to this movie.

Pratima Kazmi

She has come a long way from Khabri in Ekta Kapoor's Itihaas to Pramila in this movie. She has done full justice to her role and never once lets you feel that she is in the movie for a short period. She is ubiquitous from the moment she makes her entry into this movie...Superb.Another plus to this movie.

Seema Biswas

Though in the movie as a police cop....her role is dull enough to make any impression. But yes, so long she was on the screen, she made people feel a very special and distinct aroma of an ideal Mumbaiya Police..woman.She does her best in what was a very dull role.....but may be the main three characters do not let you feel her presence...

Verdict

In a scale of 10,I would gives this movie a 9.Deducting one point for copying a sequence from the Hollywood Movie ''The Bone Collector''.But in todays Bollywood where in most of the movies are invariable copied from the Hollywood counterpart you can spare this movie for copying just a scene for a fitting and good end.

A must see for anybody young or old......male or female.........single or married....

And you got to believe me...Its Different.

Comments are as usual welcome

Till my next review

Take care you Sarikas........there may be a Karan entering your life any day.
