I have been to Egypt something like 15 to 16 times for business. I try to combine pleasure with business. Well! It's a place preety much similar to India. A country with a lot of old history & lots to see if u are history fan. The main towns are Cairo & Alexandria. The country has some great red sea diving at Hurghada & Shar-el-Sheikh. Indians need a visa.
Cairo is a dusty types town with the great pyramids. The Egyptian musium is another fascinating place. The laser show at the pyramids at nighttime is great. Will cost u something like 400 Rs. On the same note, the Egyptian pound has depreciated recently which can make things a bit more cheaper. The best hotel in cairo is undoubtedly Meena house Oberoi just next to the pyramids. Has a lovely indian restaurant too. The camel ride around the pyramids is quite lovely. The Egyptians are just like indians as far as the economic side of things go. So if u are planning to visit Egypt beware of all sorts of sweettalkers. There are loads of them here. Trying to woo u to buy loads of useless things. Keep eyes open & bargain. Papyrus paintings are nice. Om Aly is a great sweet dish.
I would also recommend a visit to Khan El Khalili which has old allys of Cairo & is a old time market.
Alexandria is on the Nile delta in the north. Lots to see here too. The mediterranian is blue & beautiful. I visited commonwealth graves. U will be surprised to know that a lot of indians fought in Egypt against the Germans. I mean quite a lot of them. U will find all the familiar names. Overall it is definitely worth visiting once in a lifetime. It is preety much safe. Just like India. That's what u should expect.
So c u around here. well right now I am in Egypt. LOL!
