Baazee maro, get lost!. Review on Ebay

Baazee.com is such a pathetic site. The founders, who are really so arrogant and media grabber and despos..don't know anything. Baazee.com was started by two guys Suvir and Avnish. One of them was working as a consultant and did some consulting for Ebay.com I think that's where he lifted some ideas for baazee.com

Baazee.com was supposed to be an auction site. I think that's where they got it wrong. I was once at a conference in Bombay and someone said that ''why would someone buy from baazee, when even his grandfather never bought at auctions...that too online auction...'' that I think summarizes the failure of baazee.com

Avnish and whatever the other partner, Suvir was/is tricked some VCs (because they worked in some finance company in US) to invest in them. Then they left US and came to Mumbai and started working on baazee.

The VCs who funded Avnish and Suvir themselves did not know where to put the money, but they were desperate to sign some deals...so they approached Avnish and Suvir to take some money and start something.

No sooner they got funding it became just a media hype. Anything and everything in mumbai, delhi etc became baazee. Baazee this and that. What the f baazee. Then Rupert Murdoch came to India and baazee tricked him to invest 100 crores. Now you see what 100 crores can make you. It can bring you all the fame and glory. You can buy all the newspapers. But you can't buy customers.

Let's come to the site:

It is very obvious even to the lay person that baazee.com design sucks. (Added on 24-4-2001: Baazee's employees wrote mails to me using Mouthshut platform saying that the site has a new design now. What a lie. Just the index page has change. It is the same old lousy design. End of addition.) And it is hardly any genius involved in putting up at that site. Once I read somewhere Bazee's ceo said that they created their own auction engine, in-house. What a lie, only now they told us the truth baazee is powered by CTECH.com which is a respectable technology company.

So what is baazee and the money they got? In all reality most of the money they looted from Murdoch and VCs was spent in buying media and grabbing attention at seminars and conferences.

The site has been extreeeeeeemly slow. Ok in last few months they have improved speed. The design keeps changing too often before one gets familiar. the worst thing is

I could never bid for baazee items. I NEVER RECEIVED ANY ITEM I BIDDED FOR. Why? I asked many people in Delhi and Mumbai. It is a known fact said so many ''THAT MOST AUCTIONS ON BAAZEE.COM ARE FAKE'' that bazee.com employees themselves bid and post items for sale. I dont know how true it is.

Baazee's fake auction theory is not a hoax. I have and point out to so many people here in Delhi in my colony who will confirm what I am saying.

Bazee thinks that we Indian are dumbs. Why? They will flood your box with their fake auctions on items that an average indian woudl NEVER be interested in. For example, yahan khanay ko paisa nahi hai and they want us to bid for Don Bradman's gloves and underwear. I used to think that only in west are people so crazy. Now baazee thinks even Indians are crazy.

I dont like arrogant people. Inspite of seeing clear signs that they will never survive bazee boasts of successes. Once I read on a mailing list that one VC who invested in baazee.com said ''We dont think there are any worthwhile dot coms in India. Those which are the winners, we have already invested in them'' What a piece of crap that is. Bazee.com and a winner? I would say OMG you need a checkup in AIIMS. Or you need some treatment.

I go to cybercafes just to check what people are saying about different websites. In june, july I used to see lots of people hooked on bazee.com but ask these guys now, they will tell you that all or most autcions are fake on baazee. Yes bazee has good money and with that money they have tied up with so many people, and websites. But poor sad, frustrated Avnish and Suvir are now desperate to be in news. So one fine day they made one of their friends in the US file a lawsuit against baazee.com for $50million. It claimed that Suvir and Avnish discussed plans for baazee.com with him but did not include him in the company as co-founders. LOL. Who are you fooling? It was just a cheap way of getting attention that their idea is worth atleast $50 million. As they say

GET A LIFE, GET LOST!

Mouthshut.com members check out bidorbuyindia.com or other sites but dont go by hype of media at baazee.com

I hope this could be series 2 of what I have started. Exposing all bad companies who survive on media hype. First is Indiatimes.com Asyis (mouthshut member) has done his part also.

Alert: Recently multiple baazee employees have been writing to me... they create a fake account on Mouthshut and immediately zoom in on my review of baazee.com and they write comment on my review. Please stop doing this.

I have addressed them in my comments. One employee asked me to focus on the product and not the founder...Why not? My request is to first build a product...not a hype! Mouthshut members, can you help me deal with these baazee employees? Can you also write your experiences on baazee
