A well awiated.. movie which might fetch om puri a well deserved award.. set in early seventies in britain. It is a story of an orthodox pakistani family with Om Puri as father and Linda Basset as the english mother of 7 children .. 6 boiz and 1 gurl.. movie mocks about the.. unhealthy , unsuccessful and orthodox approach of a crude pakistani father to teach his country values to yet carefree children of his.
Movie has.. one liner.. comic.. lines but I guess.. movie is more of a thought provoking.. and seems.. these kind of topics are usually a hit in that part of the world.
East is East is a true picturisation of a helpless father who cant stop that .. westernized.. thoughts inflow in his kids.. and yet he tries hard to get to his ways.. but in the end.. the story leaves us with.. some unaswered thoughts
Movie has some hilarious moments.. during.. end.. and in between
Father a orthodox pakistani wants his.. kids to get married.. in proper pakistani nikaah style .. to pakistani females.. and without their consent he fixes.. marriage with yet ugly looking females.. which leads to some serious and hilarious moments in the movie...
And hey this is a award winning movie.. dont miss it
