I had booked a ticket for my son Nitish Virmani through online web portal Easemytrip.com To my surprise, the Merchant charged 3% service charge for usage of credit card. As per Merchant Visa regulations, Merchants are prohibited to charge any service charge for usage of credit card which has been confirmed by VISA. After I took up my complaint with the web-portal, the amount was refunded back.
I again booked up two tickets from Delhi to Bglr for 16th January 2010. It was a shocking to see that the Merchant again charged 3% service charge for usage of credit card. No formal receipt has been issued. I again took up the complaint with them and the company has been maintaining a silence. The case is being escalated by me.
It is being brought to the notice of all consumers that VISA prohibits charging of any service charge for usage of credit card and all such charges charged by the Merchants are un-authorized.
